Just an FYI.  I'm planning a ranch hand SBR project.  I've read on this board that the Octane was good to go with .44 mag.  I asked silencerco just to be safe.  This is the response I got:

.  Thank you for contacting us. We only rate the Octane 45 for use with full power .44 mag on barrels that are 16" or longer. Subsonic .44 mag is essentially .44 Special and you will be fine shooting it through the Octane on a 12" barrel. Please let me know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Not a huge deal for me since I am planning to load sub's.  However, I figured I'd warn someone who might try supersonic loads in shorter barrels.

No need to shoot supers, 300g bullet going 990 will do some damage. Mine is not a sbr, 16.5" barrel but through octane sounds good little louder than 300blk subs through a can

Had both my 77/44 and Encore cut to 18.5 inches just to ensure I had enough barrel length to not cause harm to my Octane. It works great with subs and I've also put quite a few normal full power loads through it too. This is a very versatile can.

That's why I like the octane over the osprey. Yes it is heavier, but it's tougher than hell. Thanks for sharing.

I had heard earlier that their length limit was 18", not 16".  At any rate, I am going in the same direction, but need the funds to do it still.  Many directions to go, but the BEST route would be a Ruger 77/44, in my opinion... at this time.

Sounds like I gotta go measure the barrel on my Ruger 44 Carbine

l just had my gunsmith turn down the front sight on my 77/44 and thread/crown it. Works like a champ with subs and normal full power loads. As a caution, you should not use true full power hot 44 handloads with the Octane 45...... it may or may not hold up to that kind of abuse.

Good to know.  Does the Tirant have a similar rating?
