Ok seems like Rossi/taurus has expanded their revolving rifle lineup with several new models. Several of them actually look very practical, but there is a wild card in the mix that I am sure arfcom will pick up on

http://www.rossiusa.com/2011newcatalog/?catalog_page=2

this looks interesting.

I could definitely see myself picking one of these up.

- 9 shot cylinder

They are also making several other judge weapons.

Rossi Circut judge 28 gauge revolving rifle ( more practical then a .410 for sure)

Rossi .44 mag circut judge revolving carbine

the biggest WTF I have ever seen. Circut judge .410 revolving lever action rifle

.410 lever action "mares leg"

Now I will give rossi/taurus props for actually listening to their fan base and coming out with a .44 mag revolving carbine. That along with the .22 mag is something I could get behind. Even the 28 gauge seems practical.

In my state, only manually actuated firearms are allowed for big game.  That .44 mag circuit judge would be the fastest firing thing in the woods (legally).  Of course, you only really need one shot.

There has already been a whole lot of WTF posted about the lever action revolver.  People will buy them though.

Want.

Not a big fan of the polished stainless but that would make the perfect saddle / snake gun for me.

I missed this one.

.410/45-70 lever action

Now that would be a woodsgun. You could take everything from small game to large game. Talk about practical (assuming it is accurate enough).

A modern revolver carbine is not a bad idea... though i wish the furniture was more traditional "western" than "tacticool".  I think a carbine based on thier single action pistols would sell like hotcakes to the "cowboy action shooting" crowd.

However, the .410 lever/revolver is simply hideous, and the caliber sucks too.  .410 is a godawful "general purpose" round and really only suitable for specialised roles.  The 28 GA is *much* better and wisely eliminates the stupid lever.

But I really object to them tacking the "Judge" name to all of these.  I'll let it slide for the .410 model (as it's arguably just a larger version of the crappy Judge pistols), but applying it to the others just dilutes the concept (silly as it may be) with unrelated stuff.

Those grips don't look appealing so I think I'll stay with Marlin.

If that's truly a .410/45-70 then I'm in.

Yea the Circuit Judge in .410/45-70 would be pretty sweet. Can the .454 casull & .45 colt be ran in a .45-70 revolver?

don't know why but i like the 22lr/22 mag.

It looks like they cut out parts from a magazine and pasted them together.

Not if you want any accuracy. .45 caliber handguns use .452" bullets and .45 cal rifles use .458" bullets.

This stuff is full of fail on so many levels.

They do a helluva job marketing this crap.  I will give them that.

Word from another forum is the .410 "Trail Judge" pistol is being halted by the BATF, for now, even though it has a rifled bore.

Maybe they're thinking the .410 is an AOW
Too bad, I really like the .410 mare's leg.

There's also a new .28ga Judge pistol. Apparently that's getting Taurus in trouble, too. Isn't a pistol over .50 cal. a Destructive Device? The 28ga. is .55, I think.

I know the .28 gauge Judge got axed by the BATFE because it's a handgun with a bore > .500". However, the .410 bore Trail Judge does not exceed the diameter so I don't see what the problem would be given that the ATF has no issues with the regular Judge handgun.

My guess is, the regular Judge revolver can also fire the 45 Colt, making it a handgun. The Trail Judge, due to it being a lever-action, cannot fire the 45 Colt and can only chamber a 410 shotgun shell. Ergo, an AOW..

Some of these would probably do well on the U.K market, but they would need to up the barrel length quite possibly. Problems may arise from the fact they can chamber shotgun carts and rifle/pistol cartridges; the Taurus Judge was imported briefly and had loads of legal trouble.

The .44 Mag can't chamber any form of shotgun cartridge, can it? I'd have one in stainless.

I'm fairly certain I wouldn't want my arm under the revolver/barrel gap when any of them goes off.

That was actually a rumor that turned out to be false.

If you ask me Taurus should make a big one in 20 gauge, or one of those big safari calibers like .500 Nitro Express. A big bore revolving rifle would be cool just for the novelty of it.
