Went from this:

To this:

I am waiting to pick up a Sight set from Aimpro tactical. They have a ghost ring rear with a built in picitinny rail, with a fiber optic front that I want. ALso going to get a Brownells enhanced safety, and a Hi-Viz follower soon.

Also have a couple shotgun tray's on order to, so I can get rid of the plastic side saddle.

Sweet!  Looks damn good man.

One slight downside though. I really liked using the AFG on the forend, and now I don't have the picitinny rail to mount it on. takes away the ease of mounting a light to. I'll figure out something I'm sure though.

Thanks for the compliment!

Very nice updated gun there.   On the multi-cam, is that paint or a dip?  What about the paint on the gun itself?
Thanks for sharing!

The Speedfeed stock set came like that. I am going to guess it was dipped maybe?? It's hard to tell, but it seems tuff.

The rest of the gun was Cerakoted FDE by a local guy. I might have hm paint my Micro Dot FDE as well.

I've been thinking about putting a Ghost Ring sight system on mine.  Did you just go with one you found, or is the one you purchased one you had researched up on?

I'd be interested in your own experience / reviews either way, once you get it installed.

That rail assembly look sweet though - is there a reason you've decided to move away from it?

Originally, the gun came with a ghost ring sight set up. I wanted to put a red dot on the gun, but I had to remove the original rear ghost ring sight to do that.

I put the picitinny rail on and mounted the red dot, and I can still use the original front ramp blade post for sighting if the red dot goes dead on me, but it isn't ideal.

I found this company:http://www.goestores.com/storename/aimprotactical/dept/275772/ItemDetail-10921271.aspx

This way, I can still have my micro dot on the gun, and still have a realiable back up iron sight set. It's a little spendy, but should be worth it. Now if I can just get ahold of them to ask a couple questions..............

Very nice. Just the right amount of dark earth accents against the tan. I did the same type of thing with Black and OD green.

Not a dis, but is there a reason to put a heatshield on a 590 other than looks?
(I put one on mine a when I got it years ago)

The gun comes from the factory like this. The 590 was originally designed for the Marine Corps so Mossberg expected high rounds counts through it very quickly and thus chose to install the heat shield to protect the shooter and for quicker barrel heat dissapation. The newer 590A1 has the heavy barrel and it takes a far higher round count to heat it up so the heat shield is not needed. And yes, the heat sheild makes them look more aggressive IMHO but to my knowledge, only ATI makes one to fit the A1's.

I haven't put one on myself, but I have been thinking about it, just because my thumb will sometimes go up onto the barrel, and of course it can be HOT.

Actually, they make some now specific to the A1 and it's heavy walled barrel.
Here is one option http://www.goestores.com/storename/aimprotactical/dept/275772/ItemDetail-10914011.aspx

NIce! How do you like the Aimpro? I have been trying to email them to see if they are in stock, but they haven't responded yet.

Once I finally got it I liked it alot.  Was on back order for a couple of months after I ordered it and they took my money.  Wouldn't return calls, or e-mails at all.  That part kind of pissed me off.  Not sure I'd order from them again unless they had something unique that I couldn't get anywhere else.

Hmmm. Yeah, I see they're website says something about March as far as being in stock and ready, but I have no idea if they mean last March, or the next March. I have emailed them twice in the last couple weeks, and have not gotten any response.

Aimpro is slow to respond, but the owner is a great guy to deal with.  They are the only distributors of the factory Mossberg heat shield for the 590A1, and the Hogue 13" lop buttstock.  I have purchased the shield from them and it's not hard to put on with some research.

I'm not sure if XS will sell the rear sight setup on it's own, but that's what came on my Blackwater edition and I really enjoy them.  The front sight is a little tall in my opinion, but it might change when I get the 13" Hogue buttstock.

Does the heat shield add  much weight ?

It's hardly noticeable.  It does keep tards like me from burning myself when reloading.  I'd like to know if the Aimpro adjusts for elevation?

Thank you!  I had a standard A1 I wanted that for and had always wondered, but for $130 I had hoped it would.

I just got off the phone with XS.  When Mossberg's slows down on their orders, it's $80 for the rear sight/rail combo.

What front sight will it work with? Do you need the XS big dot up front to make it work?

The XS one is a little tall for me.  I'd prefer the standard GRS front, and the person I spoke with suggested it would be fine.

I like both versions, but I have to say the second one does have a more efficient, business-like, look to it. I approve!

I have the standard GRS front and it works fine.  Saw no need for the fiber optic post Aimpro sells.  Looks nice and fits into the dovetail that's already there but I have no problem picking up the GRS front post as is.

Mine is a +1 from Choate on an 18 1/2" barrel.

Had to call them as it wasn't on their website.  Think it cost around $40.  Came with new spring and follower.
