I bought it used and really haven't run it hard until tonight at the range. Shooting WWB FMJ ammo. Had numerous FTE issues though 100 rnds. Empty case would only be half way out of the chamber and  a new round was wedged underneath the spent case. Had to remove magazine and cycle the slide to eject spent case and try again.

I'm wondering if it isn't a recoil spring problem and the spring needs replacement.

thoughts?

I had the same problem with mine , first I picked up a wolf + 10% extractor spring but this did not help . I looked the extractor over and it looked good to me but decided to order a new one and now it will eat and eject anything  you feed it 100%

Installed the new Wolff recoil and extractor springs. Gun seems to run like a champ now with the WWB ammo that was giving me issues.

Thanks for the feedback!

Nothing wrong with a used CZ, I've had a couple over the years.

The OP's problem, as discussed, was a weak extractor spring, no big deal, and the typically out of spec Wally World White Box.  The new extractors supplied by CZ take Winchester's incorrect case groove into account.

I will never understand why some American ammo manufacturers insist on making metric caliber cartridges wrong.

Hell, Winchester barely gets it's White Box 45 ACP done right these days.

And it's all the fault of Wal Mart bludgeoning their suppliers to lower their prices.

+1 to all the above.  Springs need to be replaced on these every 5k rounds or so in my experience.

Took the gun again this past wk-end. Wanted to compare it side by side with my new Beretta.

The CZ shot great. The spring  change has made a world of difference and I now officially love this gun. VERY accurate as well.

Before the Wolff springs were available, we used to have to get by with home-made extra power extractor springs; we used cut down AK-47 extractor springs.  The Wolf springs make life easier.
