What does everyone think about the new US made desert eagles. Now that kahr arms owns M.R. are there ant quality issues to worry about? The reason I am asking is my local shop has a new Israeli XIX .44 in stock. Should I wait for a US model or get the Israeli I like the look of the picatinny rail on the barrel of the new one, But I don't want to miss out on one of the last israeli models in brand new condition if it's a better gun.

Thanks
Drew

I've never owned anything Kahr so I can't say anything bad about them personally but I have read many posts from people who have had problems with their Kahr firearms or simply state that their quality is less than par. Maybe they are just not fans of Kahr and are bashing them but either way even if Kahr had/has a proven track record of making quality firearms I'd still prefer an Israeli DE simply because they are the originators and IMO they did it right YMMV

Thanks for the feedback, My local gander mountain has a Israeli DE for 1439.00, which seemed high to me. I tryed to talk them down to 1350.00 and they told me they are already losing $30.00 by selling it for 1439.00. I know these guns will soon all be US made, but I'm having trouble justifying spending that much. I have always wanted a DE for as long as I can remember. It seems like the mark XIX is the way to go for me because I would like to shoot .44 Mag & .50 AE. I am set up to reload .44 mag already so I was going to start there and add a .50 AE barrel later. I still don't understand why the .50 AE RCBS carbide dies are $430.00 when the .44 mag are around $60.00. Not sure what I will do yet, I can't wait too much longer to have my own DE.

Wow that is pricey to me too. I paid $1200 for a Black NIB .50 about 4 years ago but if it is everything you want and you can afford it I'd go for it.
Here is a link to when it was announced that Kahr bought them so you can see a lot of people's responses here

I've owned two Kahrs and haven't had a problem with either.  Nor would I call the quality of Kahr sub-par.

I haven't read/heard of any issues regarding the US made Eagles.  Please tell me the $1400+ DE is new.  Why not save yourself $400+ and buy a used one in excellent condition?

When did they start makign them in the US?

Looks like Ruger is making the investment cast frame for the DE.

DE's have been manufactured in Minneapolis for years and I have a recent one manufactured there that is of excellent quality. I have a Kahr PM9 that is a great gun and also of excellent quality.  Prices started rising on DE's in 2010 due to higher demand than production.  Kahr took over Auto Ordnance years ago and greatly improved their products without raising costs. I suspect they will do the same for Magnum Research.  Lots of people don't like Kahr because the owner is the son of Reverand Moon.

That's real nice to know.  I guess I won't ever own a Thompson even if I move to a non ban state because there is no way in hell I am supporting Reverend Sung Yung Moon even remotely.  The Unification Church(Moonies) also own the University of Bridgeport in CT.  I won't support cults like the Moonies.  I will pass the word to those businesses I frequent to stop doing business with Kahr Arms.

I didn't say he was a "moonie" and there is no evidence that even one cent of Kahr's profit goes to Rev Moon.
