I picked up a new Sig P220 Combat TB yesterday. Sort of an impulse buy, after noticing one in my local dealers case while  getting a Spikes ST15.

Really love the feel of the P220 and LOVE the looks of the 2 tone Combat. After a buddy picked up a new FN threaded barrel .45, I have been thinking about suppressing a pistol myself, although I dont really know why. Just sounds like it would be fun.

At any rate, my dealer ordered me a new one and I got it yesterday on my lunchbreak. Been busy trying to get in some bowhunting and didnt really inspect the pistol until tonight.

Upon doing so, I noticed some fairly significant discoloration on the underside of the frame, in the rail area. Will post up a couple pictures in a sec. This is the first Sig I have bought in quite a few years, so I am wondering if they are having any issues with the FDE (German made) frame, or is mine an isolated incident?

ETA- Here are a few pics. Love the pistol, it is simply beautiful. But the frame discoloration bugs me. I may have them swap it out. Wouldnt think they would hassle me about it.

And the bad part/

To be clear, this is in the finish. Not oil, or something external.

call sig, they will make it right.  if you don't mind my asking how much did you pay?

I will either call Sig, or just ask my dealer to order me another one. I figured Sig would make it right, but have never dealt with them.

I had my dealer order the Sig new, paid $1k before tax.

I decided to make one more effort to "clean" the discoloration before returning the pistol to my dealer tomorrow.

Much to my surprise, some elbow grease, and some Birchwood's GunScrubber, and it came right off.

cool, now I can just shoot it.

Also will be looking to order a standard barrel (will be awhile before this gets suppressed, my 20" Patriot is first) and a holster.

You now need a .45 Ospery for that bad boy.  Combat TB's make me feel funny in the pants.

I've been thinking about getting one of these.  Range report is a must...!

Havent gotten a chance to shoot yet.

I usually go to range pretty much every week, at least twice, but now is deer season. So it may be abit.

I did get a standard Sig barrel from TGS. Looks much better with the non threaded barrel and I wont need the threads until I get the can for it.

Will post RR as soon as I can.

Sure doesn't help my local joint has one (non-tb).  It's the same price as their HK45, which is the other I am considering...

I am an HK fan, but those pistols feel like a 2x4 in my hand, the ONLY reason I was compelled to buy the Sig was the grip and the feel in the hand.

I can understand the UPS series, but even the HK45? I have a USP45 and it does feel like a brick, but I still like it. Even the thick girls need love too. :D I like the grip of the HK45 but it sticks out pretty far from my hands at the bottom, which I don't like.

How does the Sig feel, quality wise?  Does it feel like a gun that should cost $1,000?  Looks damn nice, that's for sure. I'm a sucker for FDE coloring which is what drew my attention initially. What about the bore axis... seem high from the grip?  THanks,

Man. I can only say how it feels. Not how it shoots.

I am ashamed, but I havent shot the damn thing.

It "Feels" great. But I am not comfortable discussing until I shoot the bastard.

I LOVE it, but havent shot it, LOL.

Stand by, will advise. But fuck it, I am a gun  nut, you cant trust me......

Haha, no problem.  When people ask me what my favorite gun is, or favorite caliber my answer is "Which ever one I am shooting right now!"

How does the Sig feel, quality wise?   - Iv'e owned 3 German P220's and the Combat.  Zero problems with the Germans, and zero problems with the Combat.  Feels like a solid, well built gun, just as the other Sigs that I have owned.
Does it feel like a gun that should cost $1,000?  IMO - Yes
What about the bore axis... seem high from the grip?  Not for me, I am used to the bore axis on sigs.  That is my preference.

Beautiful Sig pistol!

The P220 Combat has been on my Christmas list this year .  What can I say?  My P226 needs a companion and they both fit in the same holsters... what more justification is really needed?
