Russian but it's a Dragunov variant. I got a wild hair and thought I'd give the NDM-86 a makeover to an early Russian Dragunov SVD look, instead of the beater mid-era Russian wood I had on it. Just didn't look right with a new looking rifle. As much as I do it on other rifles and as cool as it would've been to give the rifle a "battlefield pickup" look, I couldn't do it.
I used an early Russian top cover and selector, but the Chinese NDM-86 is basically modeled off the early Russian Dragunov SVD so it didn't take much other than the early style three-vent handguards.
But, fitting was an absolute pain in the neck - as always, a different buttstock requires a lot of hand fitting but those damn early handguards are cut just a tad differently and required Mr. Dremel's cutting wheel and a lot of sanding. Not a matter of simply swapping out, for those desiring to do the change-out:
