That model in particular, but does anybody have experience with this manufacturer?

I'm looking to build my first rifle soon, and I would prefer to spend $200 or less on an optic. If I can't get any magnified and decent under that price point, ill just stick with irons for the foreseeable future.

Also, if you know of something better in my price range, please share!

Thanks guys

Buy good irons and save for a better optic. If you really are set on 200 take a look at primary arms or Vortex.

Don't waste your money.

I'd check out Redfield in your price range. Exponentially better than NcStar.

NCStar optics are poor quality, you will regret it even if you think you know what you are getting into.

Buy once, cry once.

Put that $50-100 toward a better quality optic.

Notice how there were no reviews for your link. lol .ncstar scopes aren't too good. I know you probably want an acog since the link your posted was for a fixed 4x. Better start saving up.

There is no such thing as "quality" and "NCStar". Those words do not usually end up in the same sentence. It is a perfect example of an oxymoron.

Go with the Vortex strike fire. It was my first optic, and beside battery/switch always going on in bag I was very happy with it. The spark looks interestin also.

NC Star . I have a buddy who only puts cheap/inexpensive on his rifle, and all he does is bitch about it. With the money he has spent he could have bought two T-1's by now.

Enough say already but thought I give my 2cent opinion: NcStar = airsoft. Save and put little into a better option. PA would be a good starts!!

A lot of hate going on for NcStar right now, yet I haven't had any issues with my old P4 Sniper model.  It actually served me pretty faithfully and never gave me any issues.  Kept its zero pretty well, good magnification, nice quick detach.  Only reason I'm selling it is becasue I got a new Nikon P-223.  Which, for the price point our poster has, a Nikon P-223 3-9 X 40 is in his price range, and I'd recommend that.  So while I'm not going to bash NcStar (I like them, and use their QD mount on my P-223), I'd recommend putting the money elsewhere for the price point you're working with.

Having just switched from NCStar I can tell you they are very expensive.....expensive that is when you dump them later to buy something better

In that price range, if you want magnified, grab a vortex, they're unbeatable for the price.

If you want a red dot in that price range... maybe a nicer tasco or bsa?  If you want a holographic, honestly, i'd save another 100 dollars and go buy an EOtech 512

You can get a Nikon P-223 for $200 or less (a lot less if you shop a bit).  It is a solid, bright, well made scope with a lifetime warranty from Nikon...can't get that from any NcStar vendor.

For years I bought them based on price. The even looked good on a rifle.  They cant ever hold a zero. I would sight them in and get them on target, then put them back in the case. Next trip to the range start all over again and again.   Now I buy Leupold's like the 1.25X4 Firedot.  Nikon pro Staff works well too. They actually hold zero and the glass is way better.  I use Rock River mounts so I can move them from one gun to another. I used to buy NC Star and when I traded a gun I just let the scope go with it. Invest in a good quality scope and keep it.

How much did you spend on the rifle?  Spend that much on the scope.  Like one response said, find a set of BUIS used or even consider Magpul BUIS while you save for the optic.

I only have one.  A pistol scope I put on an Ameaga Ranges scout scope mount on my "shooter" M1 Garand has worked very well so far.  It was supposed to be illuminated as well but that never works longer than one turn of the knob.  For some reason, if you turn it off, it won't turn back on.

It keeps its zero.  It works well, for me, on that rifle, recoil and all, shooting till the mount is pretty darn hot, it still works.

However, it was a quick buy at the time because I needed a scope on the rifle in order to be able to shoot it.  I won't buy another one.

If I buy another AR scope it'll probably be a Nikon.  I have one on a 20" HBAR clone and I like it.

Other than proper technique and plenty of trigger time to master the task, I would say your sighting system is the most important hardware related thing between you and your target.
Whether this be irons or some form of optic.

That being said...

Wow, I feel very lucky having an NcStar 3x-7x scope that worked flawlessly. Great scope. I guess I was one in a million.

I wound up with a Chinese AK that is actually fairly accurate.  These flukes happen.  But the point is that, as a rule, the inexpensive scopes from NcStar tend to be cheap as well.  As I posted earlier, for really not much cash you can get a scope from a well respected optics maker (Nikon in the case of my earlier post) that you can count on starting and staying good.  The Nikon P-223 scope retails at around $200 and you can find it for a lot less (try OpticsPlanet).

I'm honest. I have 1. It's mounted to some rings & I use it for just range. Shooting cans on the berm at 105 yards. Holds zero fine for me. I wouldn't put any serious use in it, but for the $35 I paid it's worth it to me.

If you are looking for good optics on a budget from a dealer that stands behind his products with excellent customer service, I would strongly suggest www.primaryarms.com

Marsh (the owner of PA) is a site sponsor here, and his company has their own industry forum HERE

There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned money on gear you can't depend on. It ends up being more expensive because you generally have to buy a replacement after it fails, thus negating the lower price point.

Marsh and crew will take damned good care of you-and you can take that to the bank

I'm not affiliated with Primary Arms-they have earned my loyalty as a satisfied customer.

I'm the minority that doesn't like PA sights  I've tried them & only moderately hard used their gear & had a magnifier break & had a AP clone break. They did take them back & gave me credit though.

You can buy a Redfield Revolution right now for about $130 after a $30 rebate. That makes it a no-brainer.
