I've seen a few products out there that seems to be pretty good quality for a good price, but often times the good prices leads me to believe that it's junk.  I never read much on here about NcStar, why is that?  Are they crap? or just rare and sort of an under dog?

I bought a box of their stuff years ago. All brand new in box and at a great price from someone who bought out some dealer stock. It was a mix of scopes, red dots, reflex sights, etc. All but two failed soon after use or would not hold zero out of the box. The two that worked still do to this day. So is a two out of 6 or 7 a good success rate? I don't think so.

These were only used on ARs and 22 rim fires not anything heavy hitting.

ETA: Also in the box was a Leapers red dot. Installed it on an AR, heavy barrel and using Wolf. First shot the red dot got very bright. The second shot it went out and never worked again. An even bigger turd than the NC Star stuff.

I bought a NCStar 3-9x scope. POS. Very blurry at high magnifications, and it would not hold zero between range trips.

I have one of their RDSs on a paintball gun... that's about the only place it belongs.

Have a FIXED 6x32 NCStar scope on my Saiga 762x39 rifle worked great with 0 issues for over 900 rounds thus far..

I think the FIXED power scopes are ok for under 308 cal per se'... but 30 cal and over, I'd be a little leary probably..

Leapers/NCStar 'mounts' are usully good.. the UTG978 for AK's works VERY well IMHO for $30-35..

There are a few here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=517980 where they mention the NCStar Mount..

and I myself just got the NCStar 3/4" AR quick-detach rail for $25 from Amzn for my incoming DPMS 308 w/A3 upper.

http://accessoryarms.com/forums/BushnellARmnt.jpg

Fit is VERY good and is holding up great thus far with the Bushnell Trophy 1x28 'tube' Red Dot I have..

The same 'type' of mount can be found in 'name brand' for $80.. for me $25 this time was the limit.. if it does break I will not cry abit..

I have a 3-9X illuminated one.  Really isn't too bad. Not great but it does hold zero, & has take some bumps & drops. Works well enough for range use.

I have a 3x9x40 nc star scope with laser sitting in my closet. POS never would hold zero and cost me $200. Last time i ever buy something without reading the reviews.

I have the 3-9x40 with laser and it's fantastic.  I have it on my 10/22 which it's perfectly suited for.  It's compact, crystal clear, holds zero and has the quick detachable mount.  Too bad I'm selling the rifle as now I'll have to put it in a box and wait till I get another .22

I would not use them on heavier caliber rifles however.

I've not used one but the ones I handled at the Gun Show where like looking through a plastic bottle. Could be different now.

Got one in the junk pile, along with many other cheap scopes, had to try one for myself and see first hand though.  The lenses gotta be plastic, a bit blurry in spots, poor fov, finicky eye relief, canted reticle adn illumination that is way to bright at night, etc.  The funny thing is, that these things are dead nuts with the bdc from 100 to 500yds with a 16" barrel and 55gr fmj's, have yet to find a high end scope that is actually dead on with a bdc (have had xtr, tac30, elcan specter dr, Leatherwood cmr, etc).  These do make nice and cheap .22lr rifle optics, with subsonic ammo zero'd at 50, I relabel'd the bdc turret with 50,75,100,125 and 150, actually works dead nuts *(wolf 40gr ss & 16" bbl).

Bottom of the barrel garbage. Guy I know wasted 50$ on a NcStar red dot that won't hold zero on a 22 and it gets about 3 hours. Of use per battery.

I had one of their scopes a few years back, it was crap.
But, I have a gun case now that is NCStar that is actually pretty decent for a soft zip up case.

total crap. i had a quick detach scope mount made by ncstar which wouldnt stay tight and the zero wandered around constantly. sent it straight back after one range trip.
