1. MARKINGS - Most all fake Aimpoint sights have the following markings:
Comp M2 4 MOA 10338 #240944 (serial). The serial number is exactly the same on all of them. The other give away is that a model 10338 is a ML2, not an M2.
2. SWITCH - If the switch will constantly rotate in the same direction without stopping. A genuine Aimpoint sight will have a switch that stops when turned all the way off or all the way on. A fake sight's switch will just continue to rotate (which eventually breaks it).
3. GREEN DOT - Less common, however, some fake Aimpoint sights have green dots. All genuine Aimpoint sights have red dots only."
