I took a D and converted it to an A. I also painted it up to match up with my hand guards. I was proud of it when finished.

My finished re-contoured D to A. I taped up swivel and buttplate before proceeding to paint.

Put some cream colored spray on

Lay the prepared burlap over each side, one side at a time letting dry between sides.

Spray over with more burgundy

Then mist some greyish black over it

Finsihed product with my grip and handguards. I may clear coat them

Any more pics of the recontouring process?  That's an ambitious task and it looks like yours came out pretty good!
Did you cut through the outer shell to get that angle?

Yea,,, it made a hole into inner foam. A little jb weld covered it, sanded down, then painted. I may do more it was so much fun.

I haven't got my barrel yet nor a dimpled safety. Until I get these parts, it will probably sit with the rest in a box.

I was really hoping to have the barrel before Christmas but to much spending elsewhere I guess. I will post finished build when I get it done.

I just purchased some reproduction prototype safeties, that are with JT right now for dimples (on just the back side which is correct for a prototype) and they are really neat.  Did you engrave your receiver with the correct selector markings for a prototype?  The prototypes were originally engraved: AUTO on the left, SAFE in the middle, and SEMI on the right.  This is in contrast to the standard: SAFE,SEMI,AUTO that you usually see.  The reproduction prototype safeties look different than standard safeties, and are set up to be: safe, safe, semi - in other words, the trigger cannot be pulled when you move the selector to the AUTO or SAFE position, but will allow the weapon to work in the SEMI position.

Got a pic of markings? So, they're basically backwards? Are your safeties made to work backwards?

Here is a photo of the original prototype markings.  The next picture is of another prototype that has had the original markings milled off, and "modern" markings added.

So I should mark it as top pic, and your prototype safety will work as normal.

I still need a safety with dimple in back side, not switch side.

If you mark your receiver as in the top photo, my safety will work in the SEMI position, and if you select AUTO or SAFE, it will be safe (not fire) in either of those positions.  MOST prototypes that I have seen in photos, sometime later, had the original markings milled off, and later selector markings engraved into the milled spaces,  and the prototype selector replaced with a standard selector. To be 100% correct, AS ISSUED, you need to mark your receiver as in the top photo.  The prototype selectors only had ONE dimple, and it had the dimple on the back side.
