I am not sure if it was on this site or another one, but someone ha listed the companies that currently forge receivers for the AR market. Could someone please guide mre to this post? I need to share the info with another AR owner.

CMT, Continental Machine & Tool is a big one. They forge receivers for several manufacturers including Colt.

This is incorrect. CMT is a machine shop who machine forgings from various suppliers.

I believe the "spliner A" marked uppers are Alcoa.

My mistake; I should have left out the "&." I have a CMT lower receiver that is very well made. So, are you saying they only machine receivers forged somewhere else?

Yes, CMT, LMT, LAR, etc all buy raw forgings from foundries to machine. You are not going to set up a foundry just to forge AR receivers.

I know what the casting process is, however, what process is used to forge an item such as a receiver?
