Over the winter I was given an old Sears canvas tent

It's in great shape... no holes, all straps and ties in place, good screens and functional zipper... But it's a bit dirty and could use a cleaning. What's the best way to clean it so as not to damage the canvas? After it's clean and dry any recommendations for water proofing treatments? I have been reading up on canvak and other home-brew (bees wax and boiled linseed oil is one I read about) treatments but would love to hear from peoples first hand experience on them...

I tossed a video up on my youtube channel on it over the weekend... to cold to clean but I just wanted to make sure it was in good shape...

thanks

No suggestions off hand, I'm tagging for answers and Googling to see what possible info is out there

Ask the Coleman collectors forum. Believe it or not some of the vintage canvas tents like Coleman ,who also made camping equipment for sears are collectible and worth a little more than you might think. I pick up canvas tents if I see them and have about four currently. I have learned to pass on ones that need work or ratty. While bulky and heavy, they are good for car camping they also have a neat vintage style.

I buy'em if they are in good condition and cheap.  They take up a lot of room storing them though
