WHY?!!!

I'd think you could probably stuff a 10/22 inside a Serbu chamber if you really got desperate for a conversion kit.

Being able to move a decimal a few spaces with a conversion kit...

.50 BMG = up to 2 bucks a shot

.22lr = .2 cents.

That's not much of an exageration.

You could make one, like a sub-caliber device,

But it would be single shot for sure, no way that little pipsqueek gonna move that bolt!

Take the bolt out of an AR50 and put a 10/22 inside of it, minus the stock.  Turn it sideways so you can fit the mag in the receiver

I dunno.. Make a bolt insert like an ar15. And the .50bmg shell is long enough it could also have a long enough (pistol length) barrel built in. Do it!

I don't have a 50 BMG. I was just wondering.  I found the idea amusing and wondered if one actually exsisted.

You mean a .50BMG saboted down to .22?

Talk about velocity...

Its not that crazy of an idea, like I said, there are many subcaliber devices out there that will fit to a gun tube to make practice cheaper and easier (military).

In fact there is a Model 1903A2 rifle (many people wonder what came between the A1 and A3 models...) but it was a subcaliber device to use in tank and artillery tubes, for cheaper practice....

Well, I understand that.

The thing is, .22 conversion kits are usually used to that you can practice with a familiar weapons platform on the cheap. It makes sense for commonly used weapons like ARs or 1911s. But some random .50? Like it or not, they're basically toys. Outside of armed conflict, most folks will never use one as a "tool". It's a fun toy (and I dig 'em). Your CCW piece is different. The more practice you get with it the better. If you want to shoot cheap, why not just use a different rifle altogether?

When you take the "boom" and "wow" factor out of a .50 by using one chambered in .22, what are you left with? What's the point?

I think you could stuff a friggin whole .22 rifle INSIDE the .50  jeesh.  theres a .22 kit or 2 for the .223, but .22 for a .50 thats a HUGE stretch.. I wouldnt expect in the way of sympathy on this one.
