One of my friend's kids scored pretty low, and we started talking about our scores. I wasn't able to join the Armed Forces due to a birth defect, but I did score pretty damn high on my ASVAB, but I can't remember the number.
Where can I retrieve my scores? |
|
Maybe here?
https://iperms.hrc.army.mil/rms/ Probably not, if you weren't actually in the military. I just wanted to brag I scored in the 99 percentile. |

I think I scored around a 90, but from what I remember a lot of it was practical knowledge like knowing what a spark plug gap gauge was, or a caliper. Pretty sure I'd do a lot better with that sort of stuff these days.

Scores are long gone if you're not in the military.
Asvab changed a little bit since the 90's...they took some parts out and changed the test a little. The scores and service requirement scores will be a little different, but not by much. |
|
I took it twice...scored a 99 both times.
I really have no idea how anyone could score much lower than that, it's a very easy test. |
|
I took it the first time in 1971, when I was 14 and living in Arkansas. One of my dad's friends was an AF recruiter and he wanted me to take it just to see what I scored. We went to the recruiting office and I took the test. No idea what my score was, but he said I was qualified for any job in the AF at that time. The other recruiters didn't want to believe I was 15 (big for my age, too.)
I took it the second time in 1975, when I was 18 and a senior in high school. Again, no idea what I scored but the recruiter was trying to tell me to contact my senator and request and appt. to West Point. No way was I ever going to a military academy so I shrugged it off and got a job. Then, a few months later I went into the US Army and again the recruiter told me I could probably get an appt. to West Point and again I ignored him. During my 4 years in the US Army infantry I learned the single worst thing you can hear at o'dark thirty in swamp. "The Lt. is taking over the patrol." That's when you knew the rest of the night was going to be a cold, muddy, shitty mess followed by a long walk to where you were supposed to be once you finally stumbled out of that damn swamp. |
|
Taking it at my school was pretty popular since we took it during the school day and were excused to leave after the test. I got a 96, only part I struggled with was the electrical stuff. The only bad part was the recruiters didn't stop calling my house.
|
|
I seem to recall they gave me a copy of my scores
They also had them posted on the bulletin board at basic. I recall I had the highest score of anyone in my training company As someone mentioned the scoring has changed over the years so it's doubtful that your old score would correlate to anyone taking the test now |
|
Maybe REDD but you would have to track down a recruiter with access.

Your High school may still have it with your transcript if you took it there. Many schools use them as a guage.

Amazing that all of AR15.COM scored AFQT scores in the 99th percentile

I got an 84 last month after being out of high school for 10 years. In 9 days I go to 12B OSUT as a 28 year old.
Wife got a 97 and is gonna graduate EOD school in march at 30 y/o. |
|
I had to take it 3 times. I scored so high the first time the folks figured I had to be cheating. On the second exam I scored even higher while sitting alone in a room with a one way mirror to observe me the whole time.
On the third test I was hooked up to various machines to monitor my bio rhythms during the exam. I was told my scores were still off the charts and that I had the heart rate of a world class athlete and would have my choice of any occupational specialty in any branch. I was just about to sign up for the astronaut training program when the commanding general dropped a box of matches. I glanced at the ground and counted all 243 of them on the floor. Some snarky LT says "it's a box of 250, nice try." General says "7 are still in the box, son." I decided to join up in the Army band. |
|
OP, call your congressman. They have teams of people who track down ASVAB scores all the time.

I'd love to know mine too. It was mandatory at my school to take them back in 1981. I had recruiters calling me for 3 years after graduation trying to recruit me. Finally told the Marine recruiter I was 5'6" and 400 lbs. "still want me?"
Never called again. |

For you guys who took in the 80's and 90's, go here:
http://m.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab And tell me/us if it is anything like you took way back when??? |

I got threatened with more close formation marching in the parking lot if I decided I didn't want to take the ASVAB (NJROTC). Needless to say, I was happy to take it. I scored in the high 90's (I see if I can find the fancy score sheet-I keep everything). This was in 1999 or 2000. I've heard they made changes to the ASVAB since then. *Nothing doing. Its a very carefully and scientifically designed test. There are practical knowledge tests and G-loaded intelligence measures built in. I did a recruiting tour, and I had a metric shit ton of applicants tell me, "I got a 99." They almost never had an AFQT of 99. In fact, anyone telling me "thats a super easy test" was indicating that they weren't sophisticated enough to see what kind of assessment they were really taking. In fairness, there are some "clusters" in the scoring, and one is in the 95 plus area. |

The scores that most of you are taking about are your AFQT score. The AFQT score only scored 4 sections of the test covering math and English skills. The AFQT score qualified you to get into the service. There were ten sections total that were then scored to determine your suitability for different work skills withing the branches of service. The individual services used different methods to score the test for job determination. When you spout off that you got a 99 basically you are saying you aced the English and math portions of the test. I doesn't say shit about how you did on the rest of it.
Most everyone claims to have gotten a 99. Whoppty fuckin doo. If you didn't serve your AFQT means JACK SHIT. I knew many good guys that scored in the 40s that were outstanding guys and knew their job better than the fucks that scored high on the AFQT. AFQT score wasn't a predictor on how well you would do in the service. I think I scored a 78 on the AFQT but it may have been an 88 AFQT and a 78 on the NUC test. Its been 35 years since I took the tests and they have 0 meaning now. No one gives a fuck what your AFQT was if you were a good trooper. |
|
Everyone saying that they got a 99 is the part that gets me.
Me, and a guy a grade ahead of me both scored in the 200's. I got like a 216 or something. What number is that? |
