Tomorrow im going to be building an awning over a shooting range to protect the shooters from the sun and rain. Im looking for photos since i lack in imagination.

Im planning on concrete bedding 4x4 posts and then building a 2x6 roof support structure thats covered with corrugated sheet metal roofing.

Please link or post photos so i can have some design inspiration.

Would you like accompanying bullet holes in said awning for creating a perfect replica?

Its going to be a private range but it will be used almost exclusively by cops amd although cops suck with accuracy, we're USUALLY KINDA good with safe forearms handling.

Anyhow, like i said, i cant find anything on google images of a free standing wooden structure with a metal roof.

Here's one at the NRA Whittington Center ... note the "observer"

Also note the guy set up and shooting, down the line to the right.

Let's zoom in a little ...

Not much help, but I couldn't resist.

Shooting range shelter search

Quick search for "shooting range outdoor shelter" turns up these documents

Be sure to angle the roof downrange to simulate SEAL Waterfall Sniping like a WMR range I shot at once in the rain.

That pic is almost exactly what we have at our range.  6x6 columns supporting ?2x8 or 2x6? stringers for ?2x4 or 2x6? rafters

We did that exact thing at our range, and used spray foam for sound insulation.

Works great.

Personally I would go with one of the single slope designs that were posted above.  So the water will run off the back not so much for when you are shooting but so it won't make a mess in front of the shelter if you don't put gutter on it. YMMV
