| Anyone have any reviews of Tactical Response? More specifically, their fighting rifle and advanced fighting rifle classes? |

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=9&f=19&t=225497 There are a couple of reviews here of their pistol class. www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=9&f=19 |
| From reading the instructor Bios on the webpage I am somewhat underwhelemd. Mr Little with his 20yrs in martial arts appears to be the only instructors bio on the page with any real credability. In the very rare instances when I am spending my own money instead of the taxpayer's on training I make my decision based on the instructor bio. you should shop for experience, not store bought credentials. Small town cops who have paid for a lot of classes and all trained with each other dont really impress me. When it's my money I pay for Larry Vickers, Pat Rogers, Jeff Gonzales and their associates as they travel the country they will most likely come through your region. If you can travel look into Thunder Ranch and Blackwater. If you intend to focus on unarmed combatives/retention/H2H then it looks like TR might be a good choice. |
Instructor bios are not the most important. Sure it's one of the things that I look at but not the only thing. There are some extremely experienced people out there who are HORRIBLE teachers. Just because you've been there and done that, doesn't mean that you can teach it. I have not been to TR but they are held in high regard in the tactical training world. The training courses that they offer are a LOT more affordable than Thunder Ranch or Blackwater. |
| I too have never been to TR but I havent heard much good about them except from non-professionals on the internet. every Marine and contractor I have heard speak of them wasnt very positive. One thing i would applaud them for is the emphasis i hear they put on self-aid/buddy-aid. In my experience not enough training orgs push this enough. |
In my first class there were 3 active or former Marines, an army engineer getting ready to deploy, and a handful of LEO's plus 2 regular joes. Everyone came away happy. |

They are definitely good to go. I have taken numerous course there and will continue to take more.I have also taken the 2 you mentioned. Everyone James has there is there for a reason. Every instructor has alot to bring with them to the table. In my opinion its definitely worth more then what you pay. I have taken classes from other training companies and I always ask who they recommend for other traing and everyone has always had Tactical Response on their list. But please, don't listen to any of us that have been there. Go there for yourself or take one of their classes somewhere else. I am pretty sure that James will ask if you think you got what you payed for and if not you can have a refund. Heck, even if thats not the case, check this out. I have no affiliation with Tactical Response but have learned alot and respect what they do for other soldiers, if you take a course that I can attend when I am free and you are not satisfied and give it your all, I will pay for it. How does that sound? If you need any information on anything else or specifics, just ask. If you seriously want to know more, check out www.getoffthex.com Eli |

Some folks who've commented may or may not consider me a "professional" but based on my combined 10+ years of uniformed law enforcement and military service including three combat tours as an infantryman in active-duty Army Special Operations, both Iraq and Afghanistan, Tactical Response is hands down my favorite training operation. I've been to four nationally-known schools (looking forward to Vickers, too) and James and crew do a better job of teaching the fighting mindset than any of them. I'll also add that I credit James himself with the foundation of 95% of the skills I've developed with magazine-fed firearms. Using what he taught me I have been able to train dozens of SOCOM personnel including one young shooter who went from having never fired a handgun to becoming the #2 shooter in an advanced Special Operations training program, missing the #1 spot by less than a handful of points. He was the youngest, lowest ranking shooter in the course and kicked ass all the hell over nearly 50 senior Special Operations personnel with five-times the experience, training and time-in-service he had. He has since added years to his service, years to his training, no telling how many hundreds of thousands of rounds to his count, MANY dead terrorists, and still, to this day, credits me with teaching him almost everything he knows. Where did it come from? James and crew at Tactical Response. That's pretty fucking strong. I've looked at the bio pages, too. Don't be fooled. James is a gifted instructor and no-bullshit visionary. To be an exceptional instructor does not take 18 years in CAG. He also offers a 100% money back guarantee if you're not satisfied with the training you get there. So far, hes never had a single person take him up on it. There's only one way to find out, though....... |
Never been to a Tactical Response class but it doesn't get any fairer than that. If you take Yeager up on his offer please give us an AAR, good or bad. |
Yep, that's well beyond fair. A free class and then if you don't like it Yeager will pay for you to train somewhere else too. I don't see how you can turn that down. Tag for your AAR. |
That is a tremendous offer. You need to take him up on it Dvldog. If you don't, then you have no business posting here. |
Well put! |
| That is a VERY generous offer and I respect a man who will put his money where his mouth is. I ship for my 3rd contractor tour on Jan 22, The week before the MLK holiday I will be at Camp Pendleton spooling up and this coming week I'll be in NV at a driving course for my company. When and where is the Atlanta class? |

I have taken 2 courses at Tactical Response. Fighting Pistol and SLR-15's armorer's course. Both were excellent and based on real world experience. BTW, I am a LEO in KY, and still certified in NC. I did things on a "Super Safe" range that I have never done in any other course that I have attended. By that I mean moving and shooting, a belief structure on what a gun fight is all about - how to win it, and rules laid out that I now live by on a daily basis in my life and on "The Job". I will attend at least one of their course a year until I am unable to physically do so and I'm paying my money to do it not the Department's. If you believe in real world training that isn't about how much money you make, what your status in society is, and a desire to survive a gunfight then they are the place for you to attend. One of the rules I took from them that I live by is "Be polite, be courteous, but have a plan on how to kill everyone you meet." |

I haven't yet taken a class at TR. I have, however shot next to several TR alumni, and I'm a pretty serious training junkie. I know good shooting and weapons handling when I see it. The TR alumni all exhibited excellent skills, mindset and safety awareness. You can tell a lot about an instructor by watching his students. I have absolutely no reservations about training with Mr. Yeager, and will be doing so in the near future. |

Hell, if that's all it takes........ James, you're instructors don't know what the hell they're doing and their bios are a jokehave Seriously, I'm looking forward to going to the FR class in OH later this spring. Been hoping a class was gonna be somewhere close to me and the training fairy finally came through. LonChaney (aka XPD54 on GOTX, for some reason I couldn't use that name here) |
