Ok I need a little advice here guys be nice to the noob ok. I had competed in international smallbore, smallbore and air rifle for years. I loved it. Owned a couple of anshutz .22s, a couple anshutz air rifles, and a fienwerkbau. I was pretty serious about it. It was alot of fun and I enjoyed it tons. I also took a 7 year break from it mostly due to work. Well I am thinking about getting back into the game but, the game I want to get back into is highpower. I would like to see if I can start the quest of becoming a distinguished rifleman and I would like to go to Perry and shoot again. I loved the last time I was there (again almost 10 years ago) But, I would like to shoot the Presidents hundred match. This is a goal, just to shoot in it. Now I wont be able to this year because of work but probably for sure next year. I am confused a bit though. I have read through the CMP websites, old Perry result and rules books that I have and posts on here. What is the course of fire for Presidents Hundred? Can it be shot with service rifle and match rifle? I love match guns, I love the accuracy and presicion. I have also grown fond of service rifles and own a few and have built a few. Can some one point me along the right path to enlightenment and clarity involving this match and EIC matches. I am currently overseas for a bit so I am stuck on internet research at the moment. I know my email rambles. I thought I had this figured out before....I dont and now I am trying to get some good info. Thanks guys and gals. Erik |

President's Rifle Match: Stage 1: 10 shots standing in 10 minutes at 200 yards, SR target. Stage 2: 10 shots standing to prone in 70 seconds at 300 yards, SR-3 target. Stage 3: 10 shots prone in 10 minutes at 600 yards, MR-1 target. New this year is a final stage just like what is used in ISSF. Top 20 shooters after stage 3 will shoot another 10 rounds at 600. The final score of stages 1-4 for the top 20 determines the winner. The President's 100 is still detetrmined by the top 100 shooters of stages 1-3. At this time the President's Match must be fired with a Service Rifle. What would you like to know about EIC matches? |

I was from Harrisburg, now in NC but currently overseas. That info is what I was looking for on the presidents Hundred. I guess I need to find some eic matches in NC. I can shoot those with both match and service rifle or just service? I figure a smallbore background cant hurt. Sometimes I miss that to. |
| EIC matches are Service rifle only. If you want to shoot match rifle, you'll have to find an NRA-sanctioned match. (NRA has both service rifle and match rifle classes; the CMP sanctioned matches--P100, EIC--are service rifle only.) The general advice seems to be if you're going for your distinguished badge, hold off on the match rifle until you leg out. (Several of the guys I shoot with are *this* close to legging out, so their match rifles sit, untouched, in their safes) I have neither a match rifle, nor any points, so it's all academic for me. :) When you get back to NC, there are lots of matches at Camp Butner. I believe there are at least two EIC matches there each year, and lots of NRA sanctioned ones. I was planning on going down there this weekend for a 1000-agg (20 slow standing at 200, 20 sitting at 200, 20 prone at 300, then two strings of 20 prone slow at 600), a team match, and an EIC match, but the weather's supposed to be lousy, especially on Sunday, when the EIC match is. (The guy I'd be going down there with is one of the ones *this* close to legging out, so that match would be the whole point of the weekend for him) |

They're pretty much all over. Here's the CMP's schedule for matches. NRA sanctioned matches are pretty well all over the place. I live in Northern VA, and I think between a place in Charlottesville, Richmond, Manassas, and another place or two, I could shoot a match within about hour or two of my house just about every weekend from now until September. However, with the EICs, you can only shoot in four* each year. (*Counting the NTI match at Perry. Not counting that one match, you can only shoot in three of 'em.) |
