i just got back from my CCW class and wow, i didnt realize it was that long a process, after a shoot.............kinda upsetting as far as defending yourself and then having to justify it. anyway it was a great class and i cant wait for my permit to come in the mail!

Congrats, now continue on with your training so you can become and stay proficient with it.  Look around in your area for a formal class that will add to your skills and awareness.  Advanced training should follow soon there after.

I only wished that my training and deployment schedule allowed me to take this course this year.   I'll keep trying!!

That was one of the major reasons I got into shooting regularly. My husband insisted that I get my CCW. Although I was familiar with my firearm, I was NOT proficient or confident in any way in my ability to defend myself. During the legal portion of the class I realized exactly what responsiblities fell to me and decided that if I was going to carry it was mandatory that I be proficient.

I have had to pull my weapon to defend myself twice since I began shooting. Neither time did my finger ever touch the trigger. Had I not trained and practiced diligently I cannot say I would have handled either of those situations as confidently as I did. Stay safe.
