I decided to post this as a new topic for those who might be interested in changing out their Stribog lower with one from A3 Industries. My order arrived less than 2 weeks. The new lower mated up with the upper nice and tight without any wiggles. Installed with a new CMC cassette-type AR trigger: Attached File Dry fire and function testing done with snap caps seemed to work fine with the pile of magazines I have, AKV, Magpul, CZ 1st and 2nd Gen. The lock back function worked 100% with AKV and CZ mags, but the Magpul magazines didn't so I decided to use only the AKVs and CZs Went to the range this morning for live fire testing. Started with 1 round in each of the magazine for lock back test. All locked back just fine. Attached File However, when I tried the next test, which was 5 to 40 rounds in those magazines, the trigger failed to reset, all 6 magazines. To narrow down the issue, I loaded 1 in the chamber using a mag, remove the magazine, then fired. Trigger did not reset => It is not the magazine but the trigger itself. Packed up and went home. On the bench, this is what the difference between stock trigger hammer and CMC (I used 2 pin punch to line up the OEM receiver and the new A3 receiver): Attached File Attached File I ordered a new Rise Armament 140 just because A3 offered this trigger unit as optional so my thinking it better work. In the mean time, I have a brand new TriggerTech (backup for my match AR) that I could 'borrow' for testing, lined them up using pin punch and wow...big difference in hammer length: Attached File I repeated the single round no magazine test at home and the trigger did reset (as expected with a longer hammer). Will repeat these tests at the range tomorrow and update. |

The A3 lower solved a PITA issue for me, loading them Stribog magazines. I contacted MagLula and Speedbeez but they won't be making the specific loader for Stribog anytime soon, I already stubbed my finger a few times on the ETS stick loader and it was hit or miss. Having a nice AR trigger and better grip angle cinched the deal for me. Worth every bit of that $200. |
