During an Aimpoint Acro blog he trashes Vickers, Sig, Leupold,Vortex, and and calls Burris “ haven for those on welfare. Admits to corporate espionage and having “industry insiders” on his payroll. Article is written with him bragging about his Karate accomplishments and that he can break legs. Don’t this guy have some shady shit in his past? The truth about the Aimpoint Acro. Written by the Kay Rottie Kid THE TRUTH ABOUT THE AIMPOINT ACRO Those who need to get done with an article in 30 seconds...don't waste my time...and don't let me waste yours. Those who know how to read...you are welcome to continue. Written in conversational, un-PC, style. ***** I started my fighting career in 1970 in old school full contact karate (different from "traditional"). I got my nose flattened in front of my squeamish mom at 13. I earned my black belt at 16 and was awarded third dan in the hardest school of karate in the USA and in front of the founder, Mas Oyama, when I was twenty. When I mention breaking people's legs with kicks and shit like that...well...it could be that I know a thing or two (as the commercial says) because I have seen (and done) a thing or two. Old school karate is what I learned, what worked, what I taught when I decided to follow the teacher's path...and what I used on the street against thugs on a nightly basis for fifteen years. When I was teaching, and the Kung Fu craze stirred the imagination of every wannabe Kwai Chang out there, schools all over the land changed their signs and taught Kun-Fu. What did I do? I stayed with what worked. Kung Fu was interesting, but it was not better, and in fact, gave up alot of strength to be what it was. Same for the Tae Kwon Do craze, and the Ninja craze. My God...you could not swing a dead cat without hitting some ninja or another hiding in a bush. Old school full contact street proven Karate. That I am still here and healthy is proof that it is a sound strategy. But whiskey-tango-foxtrot does that have to do with the new "Game Changer" in optics (according to Canola Larry), you might ask? Has to do with fashion...has to do with trends...has to do with the ever pressing demand to be one of the cool kids. Just like back before the majority of you tube gun guri (plural for guru?) were born. It has to do with doing your homework...with defining the mission, and it has to do with using what fits that mission requirement better regardless of what the fat kids (err...ahh...cool kids) are promoting today. We started the Trijicon RMR between the sights in a milled slide pocket back in 2010. Look it up...use the way back machine or the flux capacitor or whateverthef*ck. You cannot change history today. Edison would not have gotten away with his shenanigans on Tesla in this day and age (snowflakes have no idea who those guys are do you?). The Trijicon has been proven over, and over again. And mind you I am not a Trijicon lick-spittle. From a dealer perspective, they are an extremely difficult company to do business with. From a customer perspective, they are angelic. But with the Type 2 RMR any possible issues with batteries failing has been resolved and they are the final best answer right now - June 2019 (some ten years after we began this journey). The Leupold has failed to overtake them...Vortex has failed...Burris is the haven of those on welfare...and SIG Romeo Optics...please...POS does not mean "positive". Trijicon is the king of the hill in this realm. I have yet to test an SRO, but I doubt it will surpass the regular offerings. I am not interested in the least in open carry competition-centric guns, and for the last thirty years I have been an advocate that the gun that you carry in your duty belt is the gun you must carry when you go home. Or at least a very close analog of it. "Gabe...what on earth does any of this have to do with the Aimpoint ACRO that all the Youtube Guri are getting orgasmic about, and that Famous Dude himself said was a "game changer"? Come on man...get with it...everyone thinks its better than the dumb old RMR" Comments Posted On Various Social Media From reviewers outside our tribe - we didn't write these...outsiders did who bought the ACRO bright eyed hoping to trash their Trijicon RMRs. 1). With a factory battery my ACRO ran about 8 days on full brightness. 2). Battery is dead — it was left on, one or two clicks down from max. I would say to turn it way down or off when not in use. 3). This is unacceptable for how this product is intended to be used. 4). A month, one or two clicks down from max, maybe even less, is my best estimate of how long this Acro went. 5). This level of battery performance isn’t going to cut it. 6). Setting 6 is the advertised 1.5 years (15,000 hours). Setting 6 is great for low light if you're not using any kind of white light illumination. Given that everyone uses a white light, setting 6 is not enough. 7). I find setting 7 to be sufficient with my white lights. Outside, during the bright midday sun setting 8 is the bare minimum with 9 being better. The advertised battery life numbers are turning out to be pretty meaningless. 8). Setting 6 gets washed out by white lights. Need at least setting 7 or 8 at night. Setting 6 isn't bright enough outdoors during daylight, in any amount of light. 9). People are having to replace batteries in weeks, not months, let alone years. Setting 9 will kill a battery in 10 days. 10). With how much people talk crap on optics like Eotech who has a projected run life of 600 hours on a usable daylight bright setting (exps 3-0). The Acro on the same setting is going what? like 300 hours maybe on a usable setting? 11). The battery issue makes it unacceptable for patrol work 12). Should I need to bump up battery changes now to every two weeks, I would be very disappointed, but not particularly shocked. 13). The optic should be capable of being left on for extended periods with zero concern about it working. There should be some faith in the company’s claim, as well. Suggesting a 1.5 year battery life but getting less than 30 days on it is not good. 14). If I need to draw the gun outside of practice, it's likely going to be in a hurry and I'd prefer the optic wasn't stuck in condition 3. So where does that leave things? I could not care less who makes what optic...really I don't. I openly engage in corporate espionage, and have industry insiders on my payroll so that is something new (and better) is in the offing...I can move ahead of it, copy it better, or whatever. It is what I do and I could not care less if it upsets anyone. And if the truth was brought out, it would be known that other companies do the exact same thing. THE EXACT SAME THING. If I thought something was better than what we were using...a new red dot for example...and I realized that if we didn't get ahead of this we would be smoked…I would obtain a red dot in question - by hook or by crook - or a slide somebody else had milled for it - take it to the machinists and tell them to copy it. And within 6 weeks we would have Gen 3, 4, and 5, G17, 19, 34, 26 and 43s for it on the shelf in Melonite Black, NP3, and any shade of LGBT Rainbow Cerakote you could imagine. There is no unity, there is no cause, there is nothing...profit is the goal and any gun company that tells you different is either lying, a non-profit...or will be out of business soon. When I saw the ACRO for the first time I shook my head and wondered what the hell Aimpoint had been thinking or what buffoon they had been listening to...or who they thought would benefit from this? The way the industry works is this - They look at the offerings in a market, buy them, and dissect them like a dead mouse. They study what is patented and whether the company has the where-with-all to defend that patent. Then they begin copying and modifying what they can get away with. If they can, they steal key employees from another firm...like a large gun company that suddenly go into the red dot pistol market a year or so ago did. Then they find an industry celebrity - hopefully with a large following - hopefully on youtube - and they give him a bunch of free samples to promote for them. From repurposed canola oil to "gamechanger" red dot sights, the message is sent out and the product is sold. And if it has flaws, a large company has paid apologists that will populate forums and facebook sites to explain and smooth over any issues. The Excuses Seen – Its not for concealed carry Its for uniformed open carry or competition Changing the easy to change battery once a week is not a problem Blah Blah Blah Look kids...unless we are talking about an 8" barreled 44 magnum with a sling on it, a pistol that is “not for concealed carry” is useless. PISTOLS EXIST BECAUSE THEY CAN BE CONCEALED - OTHERWISE WE WOULD BE CARRYING SHOTGUNS. When I hear “its not for concealed carry” it is as if that bottle of old single malt was not for drinking...or the race car was not for driving…or the hot super models was…but I digress. And changing the battery once a week? Huh? Didn't Aimpoint make a name for itself with the Aimpoint Micro...still the best rifle and SBR red dot on the planet? And it did so with a run time of 50,000 plus hours. I have a half dozen SBRs and other similar weapons and the Aimpoint Micro on them is always on in ready to use mode. The oldest one has been on for some three years now. Are they really expecting us to nod open mouthed in submissive agreement that changing the battery even monthly – much less weekly - is acceptable? No Aimpoint and its shills...it is not. While I don’t subscribe to his site, I have met him and trained with him. I will say this, for what it’s worth- He is authentic. He puts the work in, sweats until it’s done, and is 100% intensity in whatever he is doing. He is unflinchingly violent and is exceptionally good at flipping the kill switch...something a lot of trainers don’t even want to discuss. He has valuable advice on post shoot legalities and similar that I have had to use real world. He is a true believer. He pulls no punches. If he believes it, he preaches it without apology and if he doesn’t, he dismisses it the same way. If you work in a profession of violence, you eventually notice that not everyone wearing the uniform is willing and able to hunt other humans with knowledge that blood will be spilled. I’ve seen strong men get weak knees more than once when the world smelled like oil smoke and coppery mud. In those moments, there are men who actively seek the enemy and want to get on target...Gabe is like that. Take it for what it’s worth. He is who he is. |

This type of thread always reminds me of the old TV show Call of Duty. The Sarge was tasked with taking some HSLD mofo to a point in the jungle. This dude was supposed to be like the baddest mofo on the planet if I recall correctly. The Sarge got off the copter and was staying low and the badass got off the copter and was standing up with Rambo face paint on looking at a map and a sniper killed him and just like that the baddest mofo was dead. I never have been able to find that scene on youtube. I hope someone else remembers it and can find it and post it. |

In an exclusive interview with The LookOut, conducted via a series of emails, Suarez maintained that he is innocent despite his conviction on charges that arose from a months-long, multi-agency investigation that also resulted in charges against his wife, Cheryl, and another Santa Monica Police officer, whose charges were later dropped. In the end, Suarez said, the prospect of a long jury trial became too much. As attorney fees continued to mount and the emotional strain took its toll, the Suarezes decided to plead guilty to five misdemeanor charges instead of fighting felony counts in court. "In short, too much got to be just too much," said Suarez. "Eventually it became clear that surviving this was better than being right.... The price was high, but noting at all compared to what we kept and coupled with God's presence in our lives, it was a bargain." Under the plea agreement, Suarez will be allowed to operate the firearms training business that became the focus of an investigation launched in the fall of 2000. [b]Suarez -- along with his wife, Cheryl Suarez, and fellow officer Jason Comer -- will be arraigned today on multiple felony counts of Workers Compensation fraud, money laundering and grand theft filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney on March 1. /b]The Suarezes and Comer surrendered to the court the following day and were released on their own recognizance. Suarez filed for Workers Compensation following an alleged "slip and fall" accident in the Police Department's locker room on Nov. 28, 1999, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Craig Omura. Suarez said that he injured his back and knee and possibly his arm in the accident and has not worked since then, Omura said. "The police department had no reason to think anything was wrong," said Omura. "The city had no idea. The city conducted two [Workers Compensation] depositions on March 20, 2000 and June 26, 2000 and even at that point nothing seemed amiss or afoul." Suarez's case did not arouse suspicion until October 2000, Omura said. He declined to say what sparked the suspicions that led to investigations by the Police Department, District Attorneys Office and the State Department of Insurance, resulting in Suarez's suspension and subsequent charges. During the time he was on leave and collecting workers compensation, Suarez was running Suarez International, a Simi Valley based company with 12 employees, according to information obtained by The LookOut. The company -- whose mission statement is "Survival is not enough -- Train to Win!" -- offers everything from tactical gun training and equipment to videos, books and even a clothing line, according to the company's Web site. A decorated officer and author of four books -- "The Tactical Pistol," "The Tactical Shotgun," "The Tactical Advantage" and "The Tactical Rifle" -- Suarez has been involved in the fatal shooting of two suspects and two dogs since he joined the SMPD in 1989, The Lookout has learned. Two of the shooting incidents led to unsuccessful lawsuits against the City. While on disabilities leave, the veteran officer's schedule (posted on his Web site) took him to numerous states and cities in Europe and Latin America, where he has conducted training sessions in tactical gun use. The menu of courses Suarez taught includes a one-day course of fundamentals of the pistol and a three-day course in high-risk entries and raids. "Gabe is available to conduct training in group or private personal settings, locally or internationally," according to Suarez's Web site. "He is also available for special projects and for expert witness research. Please contact us with your needs." Suarez's company Web site currently states that his schedule is "under revision." According to the Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. Web site, Suarez was scheduled to teach "combative pistol" August 4 and 5 of this year "based on our students' enthusiastic response to this class in 2000." Suarez also served as a visiting instructor for Tactical Gun based in Chandler, Arizona, where he most recently taught "combative pistol for advanced operators." Firearm's academies were encouraged to host classes taught by Suarez. "Hosting one of his courses helps bring you and your school/range a high level of notoriety," Suarez's Web site states. Suarez also offered a free newsletter called "The Tactical Operator," which his Web site boasts has 15,000 subscribers in over 20 countries. During his second year on the SMPD, Suarez was honored by the department with its Medal of Valor for killing a suspect who had fatally shot a 7-Eleven store manager and wounded a clerk with a shot to the back during a hold-up in December 1991. Suarez fatally shot the teenager, Anthony James Carver of South Los Angeles, as he left the store, holding cash in one hand and a gun in the other. Suarez also was involved in the shooting of a homeless man in 1992 that led to a civil lawsuit against the city. The man was allegedly acting wildly and shooting a gun into the air on the beach. Suarez was found to be acting within the written policy of the department, said City Attorney Marsha Moutrie. In addition, Suarez was involved in two separate incidents that resulted in the fatal shooting of two dogs. One of the cases also led to a civil lawsuit, and, once again, Suarez was found to be acting within department policy. "We basically do not perceive him as a problem police officer," Moutrie said. "We keep an eye on problem officers. He's actually a pretty good officer." But according to a high-ranking City official, "The department has officers who have been on the force for 30 years and never discharged their guns while on duty." According to his company's Web site, Gabriel Suarez was born in Havana, Cuba "to parents who hated the Castro regime. "As a child he was unable to learn firearms use, since the communist government had confiscated all personal weapons," according to his site. "While he was still a youngster, his family escaped to the United States, and he recalls the first toy his parents bought him in the U.S. was a toy pistol." Suarez began his career in law enforcement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department before joining the SMPD in 1989. While a Sheriff, Suarez began studying firearms and tactics at Old Gunsite, a firearm academy, according to his Web site. "After winning my first gunfight, I knew I had a duty to show others what I had learned," Suarez wrote on his Web site. "Gabe's training was not limited to Gunsite, as he attended numerous courses, including the LASD SWAT School, FBI Sniper School, USMC CQB Training for SWAT, and several other 'restricted attendance' courses," the Web site continues. "Gabe also trained extensively in several unarmed, and contact weapon martial art systems, eventually earning several Black Belt degrees." Suarez went on to begin training fellow officers and writing about his observations and conclusions. In 1997 while an SMPD officer, he was charged with developing "a tactical patrol rifle program for his agency," according to his Web site. Based on that work he authored "The Tactical Rifle." He also has written three other books and has contributed to many firearms and tactical journals. Suarez's Web site also states that he worked gang detail and SWAT but does not specify with which law enforcement agency. Guy sounds like a douche, but I can't really argue his points on the Arco. I was excited about this red dot when I heard about it, but as they got into more and more people's hands the less I wanted one. Aimpoint has always been the gold standard of battery life; but it doesn't matter how you try and sugar coat the ACRO, a battery life measured in a couple of weeks is 100% unacceptable in any type of duty weapon. |
