With the increase of ammo, are people starting to run .22lr conversions during classes?

I know I sure as hell could attend more classes if I were to run .22lr instead of .223.

I see that as being a not so good idea. .22 can be a great training aid in some ways, but if you are going to a class you should train how you would fight. That would include that same magazines, weapon functions, recoil, noise, etc that your AR has when using 5.56/.223.

I wouldn't go to a class with a 22 conversion.

However, I do use my 22 conversion for transition training and for general CQM drills at my home range.  Reps are reps, as long as I don't include reloads (since the BDM mags don't BHO like a standard mag, even with the BHO follower).

this has been the biggest problem i see...

only a few selected .22lr kits work, most of em pistols (the AA conversion kit on glocks comes to mind) that will run well in a class

h/w, when it comes to rifles, there are none, if any/a very few (AR conversion kits) that will run reliable and consitant enough for the higher strains of training courses

I've ran my spikes hard enough to think that it'll hold up during a class, the only problem that I could see is that there was no bolt hold open and that would screw up reloads.  Also malfunction drills would not work, but I would bring a regular gun for those drills.
