When doing emergency drills today I've noticed I had a serious flinch or twitch when the gun does not go off, the instructor said I was anticipating the recoil & had a gorilla grip on the pistol, Relaxed my grip & breathed but I still nose dive with it.

This is new to me as I've not had the problem before, have any of you long term shooters developed a Yip?

(Yip is a golfing term for nervous twitch during a high stress moment, usually when Putting)

There is a difference between a flinch and a muscular contraction to control the recoil.

If you are driving your shots low, probably have a flinch.

If you are getting solid hits, you are probably just timing the recoil, and it is nothing to worry about.  I've seen great shooters nosedive when they get a click instead of a bang.

I am getting hits, the rounds are going exactly where I want them.
But when the Instructor put Dummy rounds in I really got an ear full.

That's definitely a good point, which is why the classic "ball and dummy" routine has limited value.

If your shots go where you want them on demand, I suggest that if it's not broken, don't worry about fixing it.
