I'm looking at becoming a basic pistol, home defense and personal defense instructor.  Just wondering what you guys thought about going through the NRA or maybe some other organization.  Any input would be appreciated.

It's inexpensive and a very good training organization. Not to mention the sheer volume of material the NRA gives you and lots of support. I'm a basic pistol instructor, just need time to get the others, IMHO it's worth your time.

My wife and I have both the Basic Pistol and Personal Protection Certification. It's very worthwhile and we really enjoyed teaching the classes.
As posted before there is  LOT of material to present but also a lot of support. It IS a lot of work and takes a lot of time to prepare ....the more time you spend on preperation the more successful your classes will be.
couple random thoughts: we only charged enough money to cover expenses and a few $$$ for gas money. We let people shoot our guns (if they wanted to or didn't have a handgun of their own) and we furnished lots of ammo.
If you have COUPLES..boyfriend/girlfriend or husband /wife....SPLIT them up!! The FEMALE will learn more if her MALE is on the other end of the line!! Women are often better students..MAYBE because they don't have any macho image of themselves...I don't know,I just know seperate is better.
You will need the assistance of a LEO for one portion of the Persoanl Protection Class....we were fortunate to have a Dept. of Natural Resouces officer (game warden) and a Sheriff's Deputy who helped us a great deal.
Best of luck to you........if i can help in any way just let me know...
