Most of them dont get home till today the others are still pulling ticks off. Over all it was a good class the first it didnt rain on us. It waited till we got off the range to do that. Total the class was 48 hours and they fired between 400-500 rounds. Did two stalks, one call out with a live fire shot, known distance from 100-700 (minus the 600 yard line) did alot of rapid bolt drills, face targets, glass shoot, unknown distance shoot from 150-500, afew class comps, some stress shoots, fired a barret, night shoot out to 200 yards. Position shoot, Alot of command fire or simuteanous shooting, golf ball shoot at about 150 yards, alot of spotter observer dialouge drills. We had a deer walking around the 500 yard line while shooting the steel at 500 and a turkey the next day fly around the 500 if only the seasons and gun requirements were different for TN (or the cops wouldnt have been there) we wouldnt have had to eat chinese and mexican. So if your taking the survival class there are at least two deer (Dave almost hit one with the patrol car) afew rabbits and 2 turkey's on the land along with blackberries at the 500. Over all a good time we had one shooter with a savage .223, one with a 6.8, and three .308 shooters. Hornady tap sucks in .308 and so does the 6.8 ammo he had it kept blowing primers sorry forgot the name of it but I am sure he will post it. Federal GMM ammo rocks as always and the shop has alot of it for sale Oh Yeah!!! Posted May 12, 2007 10:24 PM Hide Post I made it back to wisconsin in one piece. I will be calling SSA about the ammo issue and sending them picks of the brass and bolt/extractor that it distroyed. As for the class, It is the best investment I have ever made. I was told by a co-worker of how great it would be but only the experience can do it justice. The instructors were awesome and really spent time with us to get things right. The range was set up really nice, we don't have many here that can be so flexible. The atmosphere was very laid back but we still got the goals done. I thought I was out of shape for the class but Sherpa Dave "Wookie" told me I was in shape... ROUND. But I am happy everyone had a sense of humor. It keeps things fun. This was my vacation for the year and I can't think of a better way to spend it. I will be back down for other classes as soon as I can afford it. Next year I am going to retake the class and see if I can improve my skills between now and then. This class would be great for any operator or civilian that just wants to hone there long distance skill and work on there stalking technique for hunting season. Thank you John for the great spotting and stories. Thank you Dave for being my Sherpa for my Barrett. Ty was nice and reserved and Hav. was a riot. K needs to learn what boundaries are and Angelo needs to quit worrying about those damn ticks. Thank you all for the best week of my life and be safe in your travels, near and far. Tellatubby |
