I want to start shooting NRA High power service rifle so I built a lower and ordered an upper from White Oak Armament but because I live in New York the only magazines I can get is 10 rounds I have not been able to find Pre Ban 20 round ones locally, will the 10-round be legal to shoot in competition?

Thanks in advance Get 20rd GI mags. They were made before the ban and are legal in NY. You should be able to get them at the gun shows or in the free states. |

CMP Rules Section 6.2.3 U.S. Rifle, Caliber 5.56mm, M16 .....
....."A 10-round magazine with the same external dimensions as a standard service 20-round box magazine may be used...." I didn't see a note to allow the 10 length magazine, just the straight 20 or curved 30. Maybe take a look at the rule books, thay are posted on the web in PDF and you can run the search tool to find all the instances of the word magazine. |

The only places you might get dinged on it might be a regional or state match. Besides that no would care. The first year i shot my ar with a 40rd since it only came with two blocked 20 round mag to 5 rnds. I just got looks and that was it.
I was able to find 20rd and 30rd look at some the local gun shops also you should be able to land a preban mag or two. |
