Hi,
Has anyone tried the Wideners 75gr Mill-spec bullets? at just over half the price of SMK's, are they any good? If not, what is?

I used them last year as my 200yd bullets. They will clean the target. I ordered 1000 more.

I have about 700 left.  still up in the air about them.  I don't expect them to shoot as consistent as Sierras or Noslers.  I use them for my zombie killing cache.

If you are speaking of the PRVI 75 gr, they are decent out to 200 yds.  No, they are not as good as the Horn'y 75 or any of the SMK's for that matter.
Some masters I know are using them in matches for standing and sitting.  they work well there.
For practice, they work up to 200.
Why, are the MK's pricey?              ouch.

Exactly, Shooting USPSA/IDPA have gotten me in the habit of thinking in terms of buying bulk. I need to think in terms of buying what I need, for the game I'm playing. I'll cap-off more ammo the week before a local three-gun or carbine match than in a whole season of Highpower, but it doesn't have to be precision, most shots are under 50yds, so if it goes bang, it's good enough for these games. Not true for Highpower though!  I don't need to buy 5000+ at a time, 500 should last me half the season or more given the number of matches than I attend, but precision is important in the Highpower game, so I should just go ahead and spring for some SMK's or Berger's to use for Highpower, without worrying so much about the cost, because I won't be needing that many, and use up the cheep stuff practicing for games where precision is less important, but I'l be using ten times the volume. I was just being cheep, thinking I might be able to use what I had for reduced course practice. Now, I'm re-thinking that decision. I should practice with the load I plan to use in competition, not some inexpensive alternative.
