Was working with a Jr this weekend, trying to improve his OH.
He shoots a good SP, PR, and slow fire, but couldn't get a good OH.
I watched him close for anything that might be done wrong, when I asked him "call your shots".  He couldn't, just kept it around a 171 score.
I told him if he couldn't call them, he was blinking, or not focusing on the front sight. Of course. he said he wasn't.
Had him aim at a blank wall and dry fire a few,, and caught him blinking.
After about a 1/2 hr of this, making sure he had stopped blinking, took him back over to the 200 line and let him shoot 20 rounds,, his score? 192 6X.
Most people don't realize that if you can't call your shots, you're blinking, not focusing, or flinching. You have to focus on all the above, or your scores will tell.
Learn to call your shots.

that's one thing i was always good at. even though i might pull a few shots, knowing where they went is vitally important.

Calling shots is the foundation to scoring well.

It allows you to know if you are sighted in appropriately.  It also helps to know if you have equipment problems or missed a condition change.

I'll add, After learning to call your shots, "don't shoot any bad shots"! That's the next mental obstacle to over come in off hand and probably the most difficult.
