I'm still checking the forum daily, but nothing new to report.

post season it seems all the highpower forums drop off.  If no one is shooting, there is little to talk about.

Maybe we are just missing "that guy" that usually stirs things up? (maybe not)

Yeah,,, he started it,, it's all his fault.
I haven't been posting because it's hunting season down here,, I put all my HP gear away for now, but still need something to read when I'm not processing deer or hogs.

"that guy" must have made some impact on a lot of people though.  everyone is looking for his input
i don't agree with everything but i do respect his input and he is on target a lot of times

I thought the same thing.  Was it something i said ( I hardly post anymore)  I miss the days when Steve Smith was around raising a ruckus on a regular basis.

John, can Dave still post over here? Don't know if he was banned or not. Does he even come here anymore?

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are.  I actually have one of those barrels on my 3-gun AR.  It shoots pretty good.  I like my Pac-Nors more.  Probably completely emotional and irrational but we all need our insecurities.

I did not ban him.  The admin did due to a heavy volume of complaints about him.  I told Dave I would do whatever it would take to get his posting privilege back on the boards but he would have to tone down his attitude, he would have to stop bashing vendors he does not like, and he would have to apologize to the forum for all the above.  He would not so I never went to bat for him.
When Dave felt the need to make things personal I simply told the admins that I was done moderating here and that I would like my mod status to be removed.  I never mentioned Dave or his posts insulting me.  I just felt I had enough.  The admin told me they wanted me to stay so I did, they wanted Dave to leave.

So that’s the last word I have on it.  Dave is welcome back anytime and I would be the first to offer to have him reinstated.

i have PM'd Dave asking if he would like to come back as long as he follows some basic rules and does not bad mouth respected vendors.

No one asks questions. There are plenty of people who can answer them. Dave wasn't the guru he madeout himself to be. Some of his advice was flawed.

I am here and new to Service....

I cant wait to start the season..I have got my jacket....500 rds of ammo and was real close to pulling the trigger on the RRA upper. Probably before Xmas so I can be sure it is here for the start of the season. I also want to do a lot of dry fire before the season starts.

I have never fired "service' But I have 26 leg points from "COMBAT". 4 more to finish up and then I can start working towards the presidents...

I also Went out on pistol this year at the New England combat regional

I don't know If you guys saw the thread on the Hornady ammo I picked up. I really don't want to start loading if I can get acceptable results with it..

13gunbunny,
NTI was won this year by a shooter who used factory loaded ammo for 200/300 yds. I believe he handloads for 600. This ammo is made by some company in GA that recently started making competition ammo. I know someone who used Hornady ammo (brass cases) with good results, but he did have an occasional problem with bullets blowing up on their way to the target.

Years ago, there was a maximum of ten Rifle Combat points allowed by the Army for the Rifle Distinguished Badge. Has that changed?

Yes....As a Civilian..you can only get a max of 10 points from Combat...

As .Mil (which I am) I can only get 10 points via Service....

This is How I understand it. Nancy Poole down at Benning does all .mil points and this is what she told me..

Our local range here in Arizona has an 80 round Regional Match every month (Oct through April) and then in the Summer time (June through Sep because it get waaaay to hot) they just have 50 rd matches.

I just completed the High Power clinic in October and was looking forward to the 80 rd Match today, but my 8 y/o Son had his final soccer game of the season. I just got back form a 3 week OCONUS trip Oct 24 so I had to go to his soccer game.

My wife has it on her calender and has promised me that I could do the 80 rd Match Dec 20th!

I have everything I need now except my coat. I ordered a Hardback from Creedmoor and hopefully it will be here before the Dec. Match. That should be right at their projected 8 weeks that they told me.

The DPMS barrel that I bought awhile back shoots pretty darn well.  It will clean the target with high x counts if I do my part.  Really a pretty good deal, especially when they are on sale.  White Oak's Wilson barrels are another good value that shoot pretty well too.  With that said I really would rather have a Krieger or better yet, an Obermeyer that is made of that exotic alloy unatanium.

I'm getting back into highpower shooting, and I'm starting to plan what I'm going to do next year.

I'm working on losing weight, replacing damaged equipment from a basement flood, and doing a lot of dry firing.

I'm also playing the NRA High Power game to help with the mental part of the game.
