Just make sure your upper is on the lower and dry-fire away.

I think there is a dry-fire gizzmo but not needed.

Since I have a space gun, I made a dryfire bolt carrier out of Delrin in which I have a 1/4-20 shoulder bolt threaded into the side.  This allows me to pull the bolt back without moving my stock out of the way in order to use the charging handle.  If I had my upper and bolt carrier modified with a side bolt handle, then the dryfire device wouldn't be necessary.  BTW, the Delrin bolt carrier doubles as a bore guide.

That is a pretty neat idea, good job!
