I have been teaching my son about guns and clearing rooms. It's more for fun at this point (father/son thing) but he's really picking it up fast. I started him out with a BB gun and 10/22 but since he is getting older (6 years old) I gave him one of my ARs (carbine with Eotech). It's a little premature for him to shoot but gave it to him so he can get familiar with the function. Every time he picks it up he checks the chamber for a round and clears it. He has very good muzzle awareness too.  We have practiced clearing our house a few times (w/o guns) and he always asks me to do it again. He tends to move too far up into the room but cuts the pie well. Its funny how my wife sometimes freeks out when we breach a room she's in but she tolerates us playing

At this point all I'm showing him is a 2 man breach and cutting the pie with a over lapping FOF. When I'm first I go to the side I think has the threat or the side I cant see well. He button hooks the opposite way. I work on threats later and take classes with him when he gets older but for now I'll teach him the basics of shooting and breaching. At this stage he doesn't know how to move and shoot but I'll work on it as he gets older. It's not that practical to teach him breaching but its a bonding thing. I also have him shooting iron sights w/o eotech but he wanted one on his AR

Try taking him paitballing.  My son and I have done it a number of times and he learned real fast.  more and more areas have an urban set up.
good for you on teaching proper safety early on, keep reenforcing it.  When he gets older, don't forget a hunters safety course for the gun handling portion.
