I am curious as to what options are out there for someone in a small town far far away from hand to hand combat training of any kind. Are there any options out there? Would someone reccomend a book or video to help get the basics down for hand to hand training?

Basic book on Aikido...inexpensive, easy to follow pics...many good videos on the net.
I enjoy it FWIW...nothing takes the place of hand to hand instruction...but reading/watching....then getting a sparring partner...and going through the demonstrations...techniques is better than nothing.

most any h-h training requires a partner and instruction (visual, doing, etc)

about the only, viable one to learn from a book is strking

I suggest getting a partner and picking up the Functional JKD DVD series from Straight Blast Gym
