Does anyone have one of these?
I'd like to know how the target plates are attached to the rotating arms.
Pictures of one from the rear would be great.

thanks

The plate's arm is shaped like a  trapezoid, and there is a cutout on the back of the star arm that it fits into. There is a spring that holds the plate in place, but when it gets hit correctly, the bullet force will knock the plate out of its slot and it falls to the ground.

It's easier to figure out from a picture than trying to explain it..

I started to type out a answer and realize that it was hard to describe. I will take my camera and try and get some shots.

all the clubs around here have them.

the plate has two holes in it.  the star arm has two pins, and a spring loaded bracket that holds the plate against the star arm.

Some pictures would definitely help.  I'm having a hard time picturing exactly how it looks from the descriptions.
My head starts to hurt when I think too hard.

Thanks for the help guys.

I tried finding some plans for you on Google without any luck.  The descriptions above are pretty accurate, and hopefully you'll get some pics.

Alternatively, just hold a seance and ask for Beelzebub.  I'm pretty sure he designed the blasted thing, based on what it did to my match score last time I went to a competition.

I have never shot one so sunday should be interesting. Everyone I talk to says the same thing. If you keep a good rythm and dont miss you are golden

The dont miss part is whats gonna get me
They have it and two papers so the total rounds needed is 9. Start with 11. Should be good right

From what I've seen it seems to work best if you start with the top target, and work your way down.  Switch from side to side as you work your way down to
keep the star balanced as much as possible.  If you begin with the lower targets, it will start to spin very quickly.  Good luck.

Thanks for the effort, but believe me I've been all over Google and YouTube and nobody anywhere has ever posted any close-up shots from the rear, and definitely never any
plans.  Some good pictures would answer a lot of questions.

That's the gist of it.  A well-lubricated or well-balanced star will probably start moving once the top targets are hit.  You'll notice a pendulum action, swing...slow...stop...swing...slow...stop.  Time your shots on a plate as it hits the apex of the swing and stops briefly.  That will give the most time to get your shot off on a temporarily stationary target.  If you try to shoot a plate as it swings through the 6 o'clock position at the bottom, you'll be shooting while it's moving the fastest.

I had never run into one before this last year, so wasted some rounds trying to wrap my head around the whole process... after having sprinted through a ditch run that had already expended some 50 rounds.  This gave time pressure, fatigue from sprinting, high round count/reloads for a 1911 guy, and that infernal moving target.  Some guys shooting 115 grain 9mm would hit the targets but not knock down the plates.  If you're shooting 9mm, consider using some heavier bullets for at least that stage.

ETA: Here's my pitiful attempt at MS paint of the plates attachment to the arms, at least on the one I've used.  The arm has a dovetail cutout on the back.  The bottom of the target plate has a matching shape that fits into that cutout, and a couple heavy springs on the arm help retain the plate in position.

Exactly what I wanted to see.  Thank you very much!

So, how did it go?  Are you having Texas Star nightmares now?

Do the plates fall pretty reliably from that thing?

The star was fun except for the part where I had a squib on the 4th plate. finished the stage and took the mike.

I was off my game yesterday and I dont know why. The squib didnt help.

I look forward to shooting the star again
