I just wanted to drop a quick note here as this seems to be a family oriented topic site. RWVA Appleseed is a program which teaches people about the history of our founding as a Nation. It is an entire weekend of basic rifle shooting instruction and historical values. It is an ideal opportunity for the entire family to get out and shoot together. Everyone under 21 shoots for free. Women shoot for free. Military personnel shoots for free. Heck, the only ones who pay for this fun filled weekend are regular old guys like me. I urge you to go online www.appleseedinfo.org/ and find out what this is all about. You won't regret it! We have a special event this coming weekend Sept. 13-14 which we are calling the Constitution Day Appleseed. Here in New Mexico it is being held at the Whittington Center in Raton. What a world class range it is! This is not a competition. It is instruction, teaching the 6 steps to firing the shot. Hunting season is upon us and this is an ideal chance to get those kids some quality instruction which they will remember for the rest of their lives. Free! www.appleseedinfo.org/ Sign up for an event online. www.eventbrite.com/org/28719640?s=442480

Just went to an appleseed.   Highly reccomend it.  It is fun for the whole family  - but its full of serious knowledge.  If you work hard you will be able to hit man targets at 400m in unsupported prone
 worth learning!

Texas: As I understand, if you bring a rifle you're good. Hell, I imagine if you didn't bring a rifle there's a good chance somebody would hook you up for the day.

I haven't been to one yet, but am definitely wanting to. No doubt my basic marksmanship could use some work.
