Thanks for all your help Nolo. Please keep handing them their asses.

I'm gonna call the Nassau pistol unit today and tell them I carry in their prescious county ALL the time...so how can they justify banning me from also carrying a taser when the Supreme Court said it's a constitutional right?
|
|
|
I was reading through this thread from the beginning and I noticed that over two years ago I posted my belief: "...Probably and they will also make owning Tasers as difficult as getting a pistol, at least here on Long Island."
Surprise, surprise. The head of the Nassau Pistol Licensing Bureau declares that court rulings are meaningless. Just an example of why I never subjected myself to the BS needed here in Nassau County to get a PP not to mention the $200 every five years (thanks Republicans). When I eventually leave this state for a free state, the first or second thing I will do after establishing residency is walk into a gun shop and buy myself a nice pistol. Probably in 9mm. The biggest headache will be what brand and model |

As long as these petty tyrants have no personal skin in the game and can pay out of the public coffers for their misdeeds nothing will change. Perhaps some civil rights suits under 1983 would get their attention?

From me, it is greatly appreciated! All the best Billy |

Wasn't there a SCOTUS decision on a Mass. ban that would apply here?

So because the ruling was in the northern district of NY, does that make it not apply anywhere else in NY?
Granted SCOTUS already ruled on this, and that obviously covers Nassau fucking county.. But what do these idiots want before they abide? A ruling by the 2nd circus? Or a direct scotus challenge of their ban? |

There are times it is difficult to differentiate Nassau County from New York City in the policies and attitudes. The lieutenant promulgating this response will never face any personal repercussions for thumbing his nose at the Federal court. And even if there is a ruling against Nassau County, they will do the least amount possible to grudgingly comply (if at all). No one will personally be held responsible for ignoring the court and the county will simply keep forking over money for any settlements or fines. After all, if the court tells the citizenry it is okay to own a stun gun but the police say "we will arrest you", are you going to follow the court's ruling or listen to the police? If you have time and money to fight, you will listen to the court. But the majority of us will avoid the arrest. BTW, Nassau County still distributes mugshots. Suffolk has stopped the practice. |

They are simply not going to enforce PL 265.1 for possession. See how long that lasts. Especially if there is a change in administration. |

Push for jail time .. judge since the poo poo is ignoring your rule.. seems to be the same as not answering a question on the stand and remand them to fed pen until you agree to comply |

So NY state is actually still fighting whether stun guns are legal in the state courts..... so strange. a federal court strikes the statute, yet NY still decides to prosecute people based on the struck statute. it is the weirdest thing. but, guess that means we get to come back to visit!!!!!!!!

Is the state doing something or are county prosecutors just ignoring your win? Are they even doing it in northern district? I thought NYSP said they were dropping it?

It's a slow and painful process. |
