I'm gonna call the Nassau pistol unit today and tell them I carry in their prescious county ALL the time...so how can they justify banning me from also carrying a taser when the Supreme Court said it's a constitutional right?

I was reading through this thread from the beginning and I noticed that over two years ago I posted my belief: "...Probably and they will also make owning Tasers as difficult as getting a pistol, at least here on Long Island."

Surprise, surprise. The head of the Nassau Pistol Licensing Bureau declares that court rulings are meaningless. Just an example of why I never subjected myself to the BS needed here in Nassau County to get a PP not to mention the $200 every five years (thanks Republicans). When I eventually leave this state for a free state, the first or second thing I will do after establishing residency is walk into a gun shop and buy myself a nice pistol. Probably in 9mm. The biggest headache will be what brand and model

As long as these petty tyrants have no personal skin in the game and can pay out of the public coffers for their misdeeds nothing will change.  Perhaps some civil rights suits under 1983 would get their attention?

From me, it is greatly appreciated!

Wasn't there a SCOTUS decision on a Mass. ban that would apply here?

It will never happen because it then applies to all politicians.  Can you imagine even the most conservative SCOTUS judge supporting such a thing knowing that if they are overturned later they might be personally liable for billions of dollars?

So because the ruling was in the northern district of NY, does that make it not apply anywhere else in NY?

Granted SCOTUS already ruled on this, and that obviously covers Nassau fucking county..

But what do these idiots want before they abide? A ruling by the 2nd circus? Or a direct scotus challenge of their ban?

New York routinely ignores federal laws and rulings it does not agree with. There is hardly ever any downside since no elected official or bureaucrat is EVER held personally responsible. Any fines or monetary settlements are paid for by the taxpayers. A good example is FOPA. Try and travel through a New York City airport with a handgun in compliance with FOPA. You WILL get arrested and jailed. The best you can hope for is to have the charges dismissed but you will lose your firearm.

As a resident of Nassau County most of my life, this is not surprising. There are times it is difficult to differentiate Nassau County from New York City in the policies and attitudes. The lieutenant promulgating this response will never face any personal repercussions for thumbing his nose at the Federal court. And even if there is a ruling against Nassau County, they will do the least amount possible to grudgingly comply (if at all). No one will personally be held responsible for ignoring the court and the county will simply keep forking over money for any settlements or fines. After all, if the court tells the citizenry it is okay to own a stun gun but the police say "we will arrest you", are you going to follow the court's ruling or listen to the police? If you have time and money to fight, you will listen to the court. But the majority of us will avoid the arrest. BTW, Nassau County still distributes mugshots. Suffolk has stopped the practice.

Good thing his shop is in Suffolk, otherwise they'd probably find a way to Kathleen Rice the poor guy.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Nassau try to do it anyway, county borders be damned. I sure hope not though.

It's not their money, it's the taxpayers money, so they don't give a rat's ass!

Is that their way of saying "nothing to see here, move along"?

Priceless, but I still think Nassau will jam you up because they still do not recognize the court ruling as valid. They are simply not going to enforce PL 265.1 for possession. See how long that lasts. Especially if there is a change in administration.

Since they are thumping nose at the judge and his rule..

Push for jail time .. judge since the poo poo is ignoring your rule..

seems to be the same as not answering a question on the stand and remand them to fed pen until you agree  to comply

FWIW a friend just had a TASER Pulse delivered to his house. He spoke at length to the company prior to his order. They’ve shipped a ton of them to NY. No threats from the AG or FUAC so far.

There are forces in this state that will work their asses off to make it as difficult as possible for people to have access to any tools/ implements with which to defend themselves...

I’m so confused.  If SCOTUS in 2016 said 2A covers “all bearable arms” and doesnt mention levels of scrutiny, or exceptions (eg those with FH and PG) then how is it that the plethora of laws like UNSAFE aren’t challenged and struck down based on this alone?

I guess this was another building block. We need the right court makeup to bring about an AWB/magazine case.

First get a unanimous win against stun gun bans...then inch your way to real weapons using it as precedence.

It's a slow and painful process.
