Walked in to an LGS the other day and they had a Kel-Tec KSG for sale is this legal in NYS? I am not sure had a different LGS tell me it was not 2 yeas ago as I wanted one bad ! What does the hive say??? FL |

I have a vertical grip on mine and I cannot imagine how hard I would have to rack the thing for me to rip it off. Also, I don't shoot just to see how fast I can shoot and I don't pull the trigger as a reflex. Or, at least, I try not to...no one is perfect. |

As for why you'd want a KSG...

The KSG is already shorter than most NFA shotguns, and its primary advantage is its massive capacity...so, let's cut that capacity down a lot so that we can chop off the barrel and make it shorter?? Yo dawg, we heard you like keeping both your hands, so we put a vertical grip that's permanently attached to the gun so you can keep both your hands. Idealy, they'd have a version of the full sized one with the same permanently attached grip. |

I dunno, I think a properly trained operator with a KSG makes a damned good home defense element.
Jimmy hammer-the-grip aside, the problem is the short barrel. Like MP5K. I wouldn't trust me with an MP5K because it's alien. The KSG is taking some time to get used to. That's called responsibility. "Go ahead Jimmy, stuff that 8 round en bloc clip right in there" |
