Not sure if there was a discussion of this already, I did a search before I started to write this and it found nothing. IF there was my bad and if you can link me there that would be awesome.
I am no where near ready to start reloading, but I plan to be either during or after the summer of 2015, so this is purely for knowledge. My question/concern is simple, can you ship the separate parts of the reloading process to your house or FFL? This goes for the Powder, Projectile, and Primers. Or do i have to go out of state and bring it in? If fireworks aren't "legal" to bring into the NY from out of state, would the same be for reloading? In even simpler terms, what do I have to do in order to get the components from online vendors? Or can I go to a shop, like The Camp-Site Sport Shop on Long Island, and order it from there? Thanks in advance. |
|
Lame excuse, but ok. I woulda hoped that someone, of your knowledge base, would be more open to questions involving the sport he hold's dear and the right he fights for to a higher regard than just ego. I guess you proved me wrong :/ sucks for your image i guess. Anything else you post, as far as rants, will be considered irrelevant and ego based posts.
Sorry about that all |

Let me rephrase the prior post to be less grumpy.
I would appreciate if those new to the HTF would make one single thread with questions that are not adequately answered by the stickies. Good luck reloading and if NY prohibits that right make a trip to Syracuse and we can help you out. However 41magluva, Buckshot429, and Penrod72 say we can't drink beer while reloading. Something about alcohol, firearms and explosions |
| See? Much better, thank you. That is productive criticism. I would have loved to put everything into one thread but the questions pop up at different times. Kinda the spur of the moment and I only ask here when I get no information or answer from "law offices" or online areas. I see the best answers are from those on forums, such as this, and questions are answered quickly with definite (most of the time) answers. Also the community is much better than I have read on other forums, so hence the reason I ask/post here. |

Only thing I found was a 200 round storage limit. I couldn't find anything about powder.
I would call that shop on LI and ask if they carry powder. Still need to sign for it. And being behind enemy lines sucks we all know but you take the brunt of it. We need more people in NYC like you to further our views. But remember we are all skeptical about someone with low post counts from NYC asking questions. |
|
200 round storage limit? Does that apply to the city or to all of NYS? I never heard of that one, hmm. Powder and Primers is understandable to sign off for.
Skeptical about people from NYC with low posts? Kinda confused on that, if you don't wanna post the answer of why please do send me a message. Trust me I am a very real person and a very real advocate for firearms, and I back all legal gun ownership. Plus i wouldn't know how to get my posts up without posting |

Plus i wouldn't know how to get my posts up without posting IIRC there will be limits on the number of lbs of powder for you city-dwellers. It is some kind of fire safety code or some such regulation. Youngling 14er you should be more patient with us peeps in the NYHTF. Most of us are grumpy ol' fucks who are just plain tired of what has happened to our rights and freedoms here in NYS and elsewhere. And welcome to the brotherhood/drunkeness/and chaos that is Arfcom. Shit, I've got boots older than that. There IS something to be said for "shoot, shovel, shut-up" Powder and Primers cannot be shipped in the same package. Shippers require a HAZMAT document for each, that declaration is $25~$30 depending on the carrier, that's in addition to the freight charges, so unless you're ordering a case or better of each, generally you're better off to buy locally or at a show. Powder: (1) pound is 7,000 grains which will make approximatly 300 rounds of .223 Take your time, don't let anyone or anything be a distraction, keep it simple, don't make more than a few rounds at first until you've been able to actually test fire them....nothing like loading a whole bunch only to find out you made a mistake or they aren't accurate. |

I'm a grumpy young man. At 26 I'm half the age of FP1201's average vinyl record. Dark Side of the Moon is STILL a Classic and sells well....it's surprising the number of teens/twenties that ask "Hey, you ever heard of Pink Floyd?" Son, you have no idea.

Guys listen, i hate when people take my age and say im young. I am more mature and more knowledgeable in certain things than most 40+ year olds. Yes i understand you all have things that are older than me lol fantastic, lets keep on the topic. Oh and all i listen to is classic rock like AD/DC, Pink Floyed, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Beatles, Whitesnake, and among many many others
So few rounds of different manufacturers and see how they shoot? How does this sound? 168g Hollow Point Boat Tail with different grains of powder. (This is not accurate so i am just spitballing from a .17hmr accuracy test i saw) The loads would be 164g, 166g, 168g, 170g, and 172g. Say 5 shots of each, then do the same for different manufacturers? |

Go buy a reloading manual and/or research online. You'll get blowed up if you try and load 164,166,168,170,172 g o' powder. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I know those are not the numbers, im just saying for conversation due to the fact I am not informed on that specifically. I have a book in mind and will be getting it soon to study it before i even attempt to reload.
For the .17HMR he did a reload of 5 types with 53g, 55g, 57g, 59g, and 61g |
