My younger sister worked in building 2 until that April. Was transferred to Jersey City and had a front row seat. She called me after the first plane hit and I had the TV on and was talking to her on the phone when the second plane hit. Her employers records were so screwed up that she was listed among the missing for awhile. I was fielding phone calls from family and friends who thought she was still working there. At one point I stepped outside and I saw the fighter jets from Otis flying overhead. Regardless I just do not like to think about it or listen to the radio or TV on this day any more. I prefer to remember 9/11 for what it always was to me; my maternal grandmother's birthday. She would have been 108 today. |

I had my bags packed, and was waiting for my buddy who was giving me a ride to the airport, since I was on an 11:00 am flight to Seattle for my sisters wedding on the 15th...didn't even have the TV on...
My buddy called me and asked if I had the TV on, I said no, he said a plane flew into the WTC...I immediately thought accident, like the B25 flying into the Empire State in the fog... Turned on the TV, and saw a smoking hole in the Pentagon, and I asked him, "You mean the Pentagon", he said, no, the WTC in NYC...I said oh, shit, this is bad, and sat glued to the TV the rest of the day (especially since all flights were canceled), not believing what I was seeing. I saw the towers come down live....could not believe that either. Lost a relative who worked for Cantor, and a fraternity brother who was a stock broker, almost lost another who was a firefighter (still is...). I know its not popular to say on ARF, and can be bad on your membership health, but I will say I will never forget WHO did it, nor will I ever FORGIVE them for doing it. Everything I need to know about certain religions I learned on 9/11...... |
