Whats the class about? Do they just give the information on how to obtain these or is a complete walk through and your all set at the end of the class... I thought it was all just a little bit of paperwork getting the non res permits.

I checked out the site - there was no info regarding how to register or whether you have to pre-register.  Do you recall what you had to do to sign up?  Thanks.

Went to the class the other night, I would recommend it to anyone who has a ccw. The only part I didnt like was from what I can understand with some states, especially here in NY youy pretty much have to have bullet holes or knife wounds in you to be justified in using your ccw in self defense...

Not in those exact words but here in NY you have a "duty to retreat" so if you happen to stumble upon say a convienence store robbery you are susposed to run away and hope that you dont get shot or stabbed in the back...

Although I do remember this case a couple of years ago in Syracuse and was surprised that the jury acquitted him especially in Onondaga county.

Agreed. "Duty to retreat", while codified in penal law, has an important qualifier: That you have to be able to retreat if doing so does not put you, or a third person, in greater harm than sticking around.
