What if somebody created an AR or devised a modification that was not a true semi-auto, but not a bolt-operation either? Maybe have it so that the bolt locked back after each shot and all someone had to do was hit the bolt release button to cycle another round. With this, I would think someone could maintain a good rate of fire, without having a true semi-auto. And still have all the evil features.

It's been done in England. There is a trip lever to release the bolt with the thumb....

Or make one similar to a Mini -14, with the wood or synthetic stock (no pistol grip)
ETA: Or make a Mini-14 that would take AR mags, either way would be a win, win

Is it available in 5.56mm or only 9mm?  I wouldn't mind it as an solution until I get out of this state.  With the possibility of my employer faltering next spring, I would be that much closer to getting out.

How about a CO2 cartridge to cycle a double acting piston. (think steam engine)

Better yet, let's double down to stuff this piece-of-shit right up cuomo's ass. (yea, I know but still has to be said )

Exactly!

All interested companies should put their R& D money
into the lawsuits instead of wasting their time on this nonsense.

Although I find the CO2 idea interesting.

How about a Phaser?

Hell I'd trade whatever I have left (which isn't much ) for a working Phaser!  To heck with ancient chemical based firearms.
