Anyone know exactly how this works?
I'm a state employee now, there is an exam coming up for a similar title in another "agency/dept." How do I go about this? |
| Kind of long to explain here, but the short of it is that the other agency has to WANT to hire you (you can't make them hire you on a 70.1). A 70.1 transfer allows you to move up two grades, if you are otherwise qualified for it. Also, you need to have one year permanent service in your qualifying titles. I am really, really sure that the 70.1 is the "once a career transfer", because you don't need the test. Go to the GOER GOT-IT page and check your current positions transfer options and call them to get the finer points I missed. Good luck. (More details would help me give you a better answer.) |

If I want to hire someone from another CS jurisdiction I can ask (plead with) my CS agency to make nicey-nice with the other agency to accept qualified candidates for my position opening. If they agree, then I can hire without calling for a test. Somehow, I see this as happening on Long Island more than anywhere else.
