| So since the laws in NY suck ass and I am likely moving out of state in the near future, what is the deal with moving items out of state to a different piece of property? The property in question is owned by my Mother and is vacant. This property is likely where the wife and I are going to move to anyway. Can I legally store weapons out of state in a vacant house owned by my Mother? Will this be a problem with the State of NY? |

New York doesn't own your stuff, you do. It is your private property/possession. Asking a question like this sounds asinine if you substitute a "can of beans" for "weapon". It's your can of fucking beans not New York's.
eta IANAL and I am assuming beans are legal in the state you are moving them to |

Thanks I get that! I was just wondering what the legalities were of me having some of my guns in another state being that I am not a resident of that state yet! ETA: The other State is Maine |

Brains absolutely right!
We're so fucking afraid to do anything without permission from the State its pathetic! I spent over 30 consecutive days in another State, which by Law gives me residency. I have received Mail and packages there. With passage of the un-SAFE Act I have moved all but a few of my firearms there. I will not be surrendering my Handgun Licenses or recently renewed CDL-A Drivers Licenses. When I get around to it, I'll get a State issued I.D. which suffices for identification purposes, additionally I will be procuring a CCW in that same State. Now all this is running concurrent with working in and residing in NYS. If I was over 65 and "retired" no one would give a second look. There are thousands of New England Residents that leave in the Fall for Florida and come back in the Spring: Do you really think they call their Licensing Dept. for "permission" to take their handguns with them? Do you not think they don't buy guns while they're down there? Do you not think they leave guns down there when they come back? For Gods sake shake off the chains restance to tyranny is obedience to God.

If NYS was Class 3 friendly (suppressors, SBRs/etc), you would need permission from the FEDS to move your Class 3 stuff from one location to another. I WISH we had that possible problem. True, sucks but true. The States I'm leaning towards are all class III States.....what's that they say about being easier to ask forgiveness than permission.
