I caved and bought a preban lower.
so now i get to have all those evil features. evil i tell ya, evil. im keeping the post ban as well, because who knows it might be a pre/post/past ban lower someday

| Poor investment. The new ban will have no grandfarther clause much like the GCA with a amnesty period. Turn it in as is, bastardize it to single shot with no features then regeister it or go to jail. The NRA will say at least we save your right to still own BB guns and airsoft for now. So sad. |

Its cool if people want them and are willing to pay for them, shit I have no reason to shit on that, I just see that price tag and figure I can build a new rifle for that price. |

Ironically my pre-ban, "Green label" Colt H-Bar is in the same A2 configuration as when I bought it in '89
If ever it gets to the point of needing those evil features, the law will be a moot point. Back in the 80's you couldn't give a late 60's/early 70's MOPAR away, now you can't touch one without spending a fortune....what something is worth is exactly what someone is willing to pay. On rimfire central I listed a Kimber 82G for $700. and got all sorts of hate mail, and thread stomping over the fact that you could buy a "scratched" rifle from CMP for $425. will that's fine, go buy it, but the one I was selling was NIB, and CMP had been sold out of these for quite some time. The man that bought it did so for what it was and not for the cheaper alternative. I've had several pre-bans, and all have been sold to friends or other New Yonkers; none of them did I make any money off of, but the friendship earned is priceless...money isn't everything to us. |

not a good deal, but it is what it is. I would beg to differ. From my recent browsing in the EE, anyway. It seems like pre-ban lowers have been selling for well over $700. I'd say you did good, as far as current market pricing. I'm with Ciraxis on this issue, though. The extra coin doesn't gain me anything that makes it worth it. But that's just a personal opinion. Now go get the most evilest upper and telescoping buttstock you can find! |
