Does any other manufacturer besides Spikes Tactical have "Compliance Options" to make an AR-15 easily New York legal?
http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/services-tools-compliance-options-c-145_160.html I want to have my first AR-15 (16" mid-length) by this summer whether i build or buy it. I have decided to go with a top notch brand such as LMT, BCM, Colt, and Spikes Tactical but availability is a huge issue. On top of the availability issue, i have to deal with these silly NY laws. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

When I got back into NY and wanted to put together a compliant build, I went with this Spikes upper from AIM: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTU5050MLSDC&name=Spikes+Tactical+14.5%22+Lightweight+5.56%2f.223+DynaComp+Upper+Receiver&groupid=586
All you need to do with that, is hack off the bayo lug. The comp is already perm-attached. It's out of stock at the moment, but you can get on their email list to be notified when it's back in stock, if you're interested. |

I'm not sure of any manufacturers, but if you were to build, ADCO will make it compliant for you with whatever parts you choose. I was in the same boat and that's what I did.
Also, just a suggestion, but if you have to have a muzzle device permed, why not go 14.5? |

Also, just a suggestion, but if you have to have a muzzle device permed, why not go 14.5? What does the process consist of to get ADCO to make a rifle compliant? Do i get the rifle first and then send it to them? or parts? As for the barrel vs a permed muzzle, ..i am not sure? After doing research i figured if i got a 16" barrel i would go with a mid-length gas system and 14.5" a regular carbine size. but if perming a muzzle would allow me to legally get a shorter barrel i would be interested. definitively explain more if you can, thank you. |

In order for the rifle to be NY compliant, it can't have a threaded barrel (in addition to not having a collapsible stock or bayo lug), so either you need to have a muzzle device (non flash hider) pinned/welded regardless of length, or no threads. Therefore it made more sense to me to have a 14.5in pinned to 16in overall vs a 16in + muzzle device, since NY won't allow it to be threaded anyway. As for Adco, I sent them just my upper and muzzle device before assembling the lower. I also believe they have a compliance modification service, where a company will send Adco the rifle to have modifications done before sending it to your FFL (I've never done this so I'm not sure of the details). God I hate NY |

ARFCOM Stag Dealer Legal Transfers will work with you on configuring a NY compliant rifle. http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/86_Legal_Transfers.html |

Quoted: stag made my upper nj compliant for free. Even swapped out some things I wanted for no charge. Give them a call. So did J&T Distributing out of KY, you have to call them up and speak to a customer service rep, but they will make it compliant for no extra (cut off threads and bayonet lug and parkerized it), or at least 2 years ago they did. I haven't ordered anything else from then recently. J&T page here |

FYI ARFCOM will do any of these, and has a complete line of NY compliant uppers/lowers, our own NY compliant brakes, and will build to your specs... Whoa, wait, what? Link me, please. I'm looking in the store, but I'm not seeing this line of uppers and lowers. I'm definitely interested. I see a 14.5" barrel, some stripped uppers/lowers, a complete lower, a BCG, etc. |

Well watcha waitin' for? We are waiting for enough stock and resupply options that when we open and sell out, we're not stuck with nothing on the walls. That said, we should have the first rifles, shotguns, uppers, new lowers etc in the shop next week. Sounds good. Looking forward to it. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
