I'm sorry, but the original story is clearly bullsh-t. It says that Hasman shot Lee with a .45 in self-defense, and Lee had to have emergency surgery to remove the bullet. I know from GD that if Lee had really been shot with a .45, he would have been hurled backwards 10 feet and blown into little bits. So something is obviously not true. |
I'm sure they would prefer to have the victim apologize for damaging the assailants knuckles.![]() Quoted:

2 guys in a car,one exited and assaulted Hasman while he and his girlfriend were sitting on his motorcycle. Wow didn't know you could use lethal force in NY state for one on one. |

Yeah I remember this case when it first happened.
I saw a news interview that involved a family member of the attacker that if I remember correctly said something along the lines- "Even if he did [bad guy in van] attack first; the guy on the bike should go to jail because your not allowed to carry weapons, especially handguns in this state." |

My reading comprehension probably sucks but from what I gather this was initially a one on one physical altercation. The guy in the van was only armed with this fists and the motorcycle rider responded with lethal force. So? Fists can be lethal, especially when they can be used to gain control of a firearm. Why would you advance on a guy with a gun unless you thought you could survive the encounter, which necessarily requires taking his gun away or incapacitating him before he gets to use it? |

I was under the impression that responding to a simple fist fight in NY state with lethal force was illegal. I guess with the ruling of this case I am wrong. |
