I've been told that you can not hunt in NY with a muzzle device of any kind be it a muzzle break or flash hider.  My source is a peace officer who also told me that DEC made his friend cut the flash hider off of his M1A to the muzzle before he could return to his tree stand.  Any merrit in this?  I've been lookingup the DEC regulations and found nothing.

Your peace officer friend or the DEC officer is full of sh*T there is nothing in the encon regulations stating such!

I love how people make this sh*t up as they go along.

Have this peace officer show you the regulation either in encon or pl!

If he can't, tell him he better stop spreading false info!

Thanks guys!  I just wanted to make sure, I looked all over the regulations site and could not find a thing.  I'll set him straight so he dosen't pass any bad info around.

I doubt your friend's version of the story.  Having dealt with a number of DEC guys I don't think one of them would even bother to waste their time on such a thing.

Oh that was his version alright.  It sounded funky to me and that's why I went nuts looking on the dec website.

EnCon disallows hunting with sound suppressors (which are illegal anyway), but there are no restrictions with respect to brakes or flash suppressors.

With a castle nut wrench, yes...  but the front sight goes with it.

They also disallow hunting with a machine gun, which NYS frowns upon as well.
