| Somebody need to pen a bill that states " Any individual or group of individuals who imposes any such law that would inhibit a law abiding mentally stable American Citizen from owning a hand gun, rifle or shot gun of their choice shall be found guilty of Treason against the United States of America" |

Personally I'm a fan of tricking NYS legislative branch into passing a watered down AWB without them knowing what it is.
Fuck it, fight fire with fire. Hell I'll even settle for a licensing amendment that would allow paid exemptions, then file suit later on down the road knocking that down. |

Hell I'll even settle for a licensing amendment that would allow paid exemptions, then file suit later on down the road knocking that down. The requirement for license to possess in the home is going to have to go at some point. Since SCOTUS has declared that a fundamental right, being forced to pay $300+ to Nassau County and NYC to exercise said fundamental right is unconstitutional. Of course they could get out of it by saying such possession licenses are free and issue them on the spot after a NICS check. |

Of course they could get out of it by saying such possession licenses are free and issue them on the spot after a NICS check. I was thinking more along the lines of an exemption to the NYS AWB by a paid license, similar to I believe Mass. if I am correct. That way NYS would make money and know who has what at the same time. For us the advantage would be possibly two fold in overturning the AWB in that both that the AWB is unconstitutional by the simple fact that it bans things that are a fundamental right of ownership under the 2nd amendment, and the idea of pay to play with needless hoops to jump through. Plus if this idea where to take place the initial thought of being to possess what was once banned might be an intriguing thought, though it would be akin to selling your soul to the devil. |

what are the chances of this new AWB passing? I sure hope it doesn't happen since I just spent $1.500 on my first AR,ammo and mags!!!! But do you think that our current "AWB AR's" will be illegal from then on, or will they be allowed since they were owned before the law took place..Kind of like Pre 9/94..... |

I do remember that like In California you would be allowed an "assault weapon" if it had a bullet button feature. to be honest if it did pass..would just move my ARs back to NH and have the barrels rethreaded...I dont plan on staying in NY anyway, I'm here due to military stationing. |

They actually expect every one with an AR to just hand it in to somebody????!!! I guarantee they would be like.....Where are they all??? I dont care who you are....Thats FUNNY

The AWB 2.0 that has passed the Assembly in prior years provided for a 90 day registration period and CoBIS testing. After the 90 day grace period expired any pistol/rifle/shotgun with one AW feature (from a list of expanded features) would declared contraband and illegal to possess in NYS. If you chose not to register and CoBIS test your "AW" than your only other choice would be to remove it permanently from the state. I wouldn't turn anything in for destruction but I sure as hell would not violate the law and subject myself to arrest/prosecution and a possible sentence of incarceration. |

Quoted: what are the chances of this new AWB passing? I wouldn't say never but I think it's extremely unlikely for any anti-gun bills of substance to be enacted into law over the next two years. The Assembly never even got around to passing the entire anti-gun package in 2010 that they had done in prior years. Don't forget the entire Legislature is up for re-election again in 2012 and the Democrats can't afford to lose any more Democratic seats in key Senate districts. |

And the list of rep's phone numbers that was posted helped a lot to motivate people here I think. Let's do that again. |
