lets say you went ice fishing, and lost your wallet, witch had your pistol permit, DL and SSC card.. You have a very important start date for a job, on Monday, and you need Your DL and SSC as proof of ID.. Also you have several pistols, but no longer have your permit.. Whats the quickest way to get some form of Photo ID by monday for work in, and how do you go about getting a pistol permit replaced with out any ID in livingston county? |

Get a police report TONIGHT at your local sheriffs office. See if you can get the specifics on what documents they'll need to issue you a sheriff's ID Go to DMV ASAP in the morning and get the DL replaced. Then go back to the SD when the pistol permit folks open up and apply for a replacement permit and get a Sheriff's ID issued. It wont be accepted everywhere, but it is a start.
You'll have to work one problem at a time in terms of getting everything replaced. |

Find another angler with a fish camera, go back to your spot and punch a few holes and find the fucker. Snag it with a swedish pimple. It'd be worth it to me to pay a guy $50 to borrow his camera. Hell you could even buy one and sell it when your done before your CC statement even comes in.
I'm sorry for your troubles. I've seen cell phones and wallets go down holes. Fortunately never mine. If you have a weedy bottom you may not find it. Up my way it's like a desert under the ice. |

I will head down there First thing in the AM. Any idea how much Sherriffs Id will cost? and will I have to use a money order to pay for the replacement permit like I did for the orignal? The real problem here is I lost it all at once, and since i have no ID I cant really do a whole lot... Its almost like a circular wheel of FUCK MY LIFE, you need one to get there other, inorder to get the first one.. Luckly I have my BC.. |

I looked on your sheriffs office website for info, unfortunately its lacking. Fees for sheriff's IDs vary from agency to agency. We currently charge $15.00 for ours. You're probably going to need something more than a BC...you might want to take copies of rental agreements, mortgages, utility bills, etc.As far as the DL, you'll need a police report number to get that replaced with DMV. So do it in the order I mentioned. |

Your SO will have its own requirements as to what documentation it accepts for a Sheriffs ID. You might want to call them before you leave the house to see what they'll accept so that you don't waste a trip. edit: http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/license.htm#licenselost If your driver license or your learner permit was lost or stolen because of a crime: Get form MV-78B from a police agency. This form is available only from police agencies, not from the DMV. Make a photocopy of the form for your records. Complete form MV-44. Bring form MV-44 and the original form MV-78B to a DMV office. Show your proof of identity. There is no fee to replace your driver license or your learner permit if the MV-78B shows that the document was stolen. Note: You cannot use form MV-78B to replace a non-driver photo ID card for no fee. |

I'd lost my DL in the airport once, Didn't need any sort of police report to get it replaced. I did, however, have to go to DMV, fill out a form and pay a small fee to get it replaced. You won't get it in time for Monday though. They'll mail it to you within the next couple of weeks.
I think with a SS card you can request a new one online and they'll mail that to you too, but too late for your new job. If you have a passport at home, that's on the approved list of documents. |

| it's a good idea to get a duplicate of your pistol permit. i'm in monroe county and i washed my permit once. it was still good after it dried, but i was swetting it. i went down to the county clerks office and requested a duplicate and a few weeks later had the new one in the mail. i now have the old one as a spare just in case. i also keep an old expired dl just in case as well, plus my passport. |
| Well, what can I say, this wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be.. New license, didn't require anything but my name and social (memorized), and cost 17 bucks... New pistol permit ran me 5 bucks, Temp license and 1 document with a signature was all that's was needed. I used last years tax documents as proof. The sheriff's ID was even simpler, as I was able use my temp license, pistol permit, ssn (memorized) and BC as proof.. I have never lost a wallet in my life, and I'm rather OCD about it, as it is, so when I lost it needless to say I was really shocked. Knowing everything that I had in there panic really started to set in.. However I left my house at 10am, everything was replaced, and my pistol was back on my hip by 1230pm.. In all honesty, I was thinking today would be a total nightmare, but everything went extremely smooth.. Word to the wise, when ice fishing, leave anything that's not needed to pull a fish through the Ice in the truck... Thanks to everyone for all the advice |

I am not sure if they are still dispensed, but years ago I had a non-driver's ID. I left it at home in case my wallet ever lost me, or was borrowed with force. Having a passport is also a great thing. /ml This is what I will be doing as well my sheriffs Id BC and SSC will be left af the house unless I need them.. Unfortunalty lots of places I work require to see those document as proof of Id, so at some point I will have to carry them all at once again.. |
