and get their man. From an email I received: Last week the guy in the photo was the subject of a manhunt after he brutally raped a woman in Tompins County. A car chase ensued in the Elmira area, and he fled on foot. He was eventually found hiding, and brandished a utility knife asking the troopers who wanted to get it first. That was the last thing he said before being shot with a taser. Look closely and you can see the one probe stuck in his left eye. |

Tazed in the eyeball, that's gotta hurt like a bitch on several different levels. Don't run from or fight the Police...........bad things happen. LOL What that looks like is either 1) a half decent lawsuit or 2) a hefty bill for the tax payers while he sits in a hospital as a ward of the state.... |

If you see the dashcam he is threatening the troopers with a box cutter when the EPD guy lights him up. The barb was in his eyelid only, the other in his thigh. |

Sorry, nothing except maybe the Massachusetts SP uniform looks better than NJSP, and no disrespect to the service, but I've never seen a NJ trooper who looks like Farva from Super Troopers making an arrest. Maybe it's time for some serious annual PT quals.
ETA––As to the NJSP uniform resembling a gestapo uniform, you're not completely off, the first commandant of the NJSP, Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf's father, admired the squared away appearance of the military in Germany at the time of the services founding, and took styling queues for their own uniforms. While the values that the nazis held were horrible and contrary to our own, the uniform that the commandant came up with is IMO very squared away, and does not represent, glorify, or pay any homage to those that carried out the most heinous crimes in recent history. |

At least the NY police agencies are based on US army uniforms of the day. Started with Conservation Department Officers in the late 1800's early 1900's prior to the NYSP.
It's changed a bit through the years though, the early CD uniform hat was a service cap (bus driver style) then the stetson. Thank god the riding boots and jodpurs are gone! In 1917 the first superintendent of troops being a former army officer pretty much copied the army uniform as well with the choice of grey and praetorian purple for the Roman elite guard. At least that's what I was told and I think read. All the different NY state agencies have a similar cut of uniform. NYSP, NYPP, Encon, Rangers, and I believe state corrections. Corrections could possibly predate Encon's use of the style of uniform but I'm speculating on the possibility. ETA- That bastard deserved the lightning ride, too bad the other electrode didn't go to his tool/sack. |

Albany, NY – State troopers have started carrying Tasers, the electronic shock devices many police departments have been using for years.
The New York State Trooper Foundation donated 142 Taser model X-26 ECD units to the state police in July. According to a release issued Friday, “a few troopers in each patrol area throughout the state will patrol with a unit and will be able to respond to assist other troopers in their area in the event of a violent or escalating confrontation.” The release said that the Taser, unlike “traditional less-lethal law enforcement tools,” does not rely on pain. Instead, the release said, it provides neuromuscular incapacitation, giving a trooper an opportunity to stop a dangerous individual. “State Police hopes to reduce injuries to troopers and the violent subjects they encounter.,” the release said.Contact Charles McChesney at [email protected]. |

So I just realized after looking at that picture, Troopers don't wear badges/shields? That's because they kept getting mistaken for crossing guards with their stop sign shaped badges................................Yes, I am only kidding and only posted this to get a rise out of the crowd (no disrespect intended 762). |

SP around here, i know of two that carry tasers. watched the video of them at there cert classes. LOL! dont say "Badge" to a trooper, its a Shield, ive been corrected, in the utmost impolite manor on multiple occasions. Its pretty sad that a Foundation (more then likely funded by its own Troopers) had to DONATE Tasers to there officers, instead of the state buying them like they should be. FUNYS |
