Well I picked up a DPMS bull sweet 16.

It comes with a heavy barrel and it's in a .223 rem cal.

I would like to convert it over to a 5,56 cal and make it a little lighter so I

can add a rail system and vertical grip which I already picked up.

I also have a surefire on the way. with an EoTech sitting in top of the rifle now.

So I guess you can say I want to turn it into a cool rifle

Sounds good...

And looks like you'll have parts left over to start another build...lol

Welcome to the addiction.

NY sucks balls

DPMS will only sell target crown barrels to ny   no threaded barrel's at all.

So getting that muzzle brake that I wanted is out of the question :(.

You don't want that crappy barrel anyway dude.  Get a decent barrel.  Order something chambered for 5.56 (not dpms .223) in a 1/7 twist (I like my mid-length), chrome lined from BCM or CMMG or something, and get a gas tube and roll-pin too.  Then order an A3 upper and put it together the way you want it.  Index and permanently attach the brake first.  Hell, if you live anywhere near Binghamton I'd be willing to help you out building it, as I've got all the tools (including the 1200* silver solder) and they're gathering dust.

PM me if that sounds like a good option for you and I'd be happy to help.  Order a barrel/tube/brake/upper/gasblock etc. and keep me posted.

Nah, its a tromix if I'm not mistaken.

I'll tell ya, my friend has it on one of his ar's and I thought it was badass too, and it totally is, but I've made myself bleed on it too many times to keep the torch of love lit with it.  Its too sharp. I'd never want to carry a gun with that thing attached on a sling, it is seriously dangerously sharp. I like the YHM 5M2 a lot more, and its a lot cheaper.  It still hurts like a bitch when you poke yourself in the back of the leg with it by accident, but no blood at least.
